****UPDATE: Our varsity football game against Richmond Senior High School has been moved to Thursday 8/18. So our Friends and Family preview show will happen on Friday 8/19 at 5:30.
Just a few highlights from our two weeks of band camp. The seniors/veterans got to pick their “little siblings” for the season. We had not one, but two water balloon fights. Then Kona Ice paid us a visit on the last day right after outdoor rehearsal. Mount Tabor Marching Band has been putting in some hard work the past two weeks! We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on at our Family and Friends preview show on Thursday 8/18 at 5:30pm starting at our practice field (the student parking lot). You won’t want to miss it! Did I mention there will be food??
The Marching Spartans are back at it today working hard!
The Bluecoats arrived early this morning! Make sure you come by the school between 12pm-3:30pm to check out their rehearsals. You won’t be disappointed! Go Blooooo!
The Marching Spartans had a great day on Saturday at the marching band competition at Newton-Conover High School and brought home a trophy for 2nd place percussion out of 8 bands in our class!

Proud of you Morgan!!
Senior Spotlight: Morgan Eastling
Even before arriving at Mount Tabor, Morgan became part of the Marching Spartans as an eighth-grader!
Since then she has been leading through her music. Her sophomore year, Morgan served as the trumpet section leader, and has been the drum major her junior and senior years.
Morgan also plays the french horn, and on that instrument she earned a place in all-county band (9-11), all-district band (10-12), and all-county orchestra (11). Last year, Morgan was awarded 1st place drum major at their final competition.
As a result of her accomplishments and her leadership within the MTHS band program, Morgan was awarded “Most Outstanding Junior” last year!
Morgan is also accomplished in the classroom. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and served as a Junior Marshal.
After graduation, Morgan plans to study architecture/design; she has been accepted by ECU, UNCC, NCSU and UNCCH. She’s still deciding where to go, but we know she’ll do great (and bring her leadership and music with her) wherever she goes!
We’ll miss you, Morgan!
Proud of you Crystal!!
Senior Spotlight: Crystal Lindsey
Crystal has been a member of our Marching Spartans for 3 years. She plays the Trumpet, Snare, and Bass Drum. She has held the position of Section Leader for two years.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and is the Secretary of Ebony Society.
The best part of her four years at Mt. Tabor would be making new friends and sharing different experiences with them each and everyday!
One unique thing about Crystal is how she carries herself. She is always so happy and in a good mood!
She will miss her friends at MTHS, and the bonds she has created with certain people.
Crystal would like to thank Mr. McDaniel, Mrs. Schaefer, Mr. Benner, and Ms. Barnett. She says they have helped her grow and change throughout the school years and that she couldn’t have gone far without them.
After graduation she hopes to attend WSSU or NCAT to major in Elementary Education to become a Kindergarten Teacher or to take the place of her mother who is a Daycare Administrator.
We love those goals and know you will succeed at attaining them, Crystal!
Proud of you Maci!!!
Senior Spotlight: Maci Farrington
Maci is a member of JROTC, the National Honor Society, and band.
Maci has been in band since the beginning of middle school, and has played the Clarinet for all 7 years! She has also been in the All-County band a couple of times. She says the best part is definitely the friendships she has made and the experiences she has had!
Maci has had ties to MTHS for a long time, as her mom was also a Tabor student.
When she graduates she says she will miss her lower classman friends. Her plan is to go to App State and end up teaching overseas!
That sounds amazing, Maci, and we hope your plan is fulfilled!
The Marching Spartans were finally back out on the field last night for our first home football game! We also celebrated our awesome Seniors - Morgan Eastling, Maci Farrington, Maceo Floyd, Jontae Gladden, Noah Goldstein, Deriyon Green, Crystal Lindsey, John Turner and Khairi Williams.
