Mayor Roger Bell always make us proud to be his Kiwanis Club!
Recently, we sat down with Mayor Bell of Selah for an incredible conversation that left us feeling inspired and hopeful! 🤝 From the moment we started talking, it was clear that Mayor Bell's love for Selah runs deep, and his dedication to its people is unwavering.
In Mayor Bell, we found not just a leader, but an ally in our mission to make Selah a place where every person can thrive. 🏡✨ Together, we envision a Selah that is not only prosperous but also compassionate, inclusive, and vibrant—a community where every voice is heard and every individual's potential is nurtured.
Our shared vision for Selah is one where:
📚 Education is celebrated and opportunities for lifelong learning abound.
💼 Economic growth is balanced with a strong sense of community and belonging.
❤️ Diversity is embraced, and every person feels valued and respected.
🤝 Collaboration is the cornerstone of progress, with neighbors supporting neighbors and working together towards common goals.
As we continue this journey together, let's keep the spirit of collaboration and compassion alive. Together, we can create a brighter, more inclusive future for Selah—one filled with love, kindness, and endless possibilities. 💫💚 🌟🤝
February Highlights!
We want to thank our speakers Kyle Rasmussen and Ana Martinez for taking the time to share their knowledge and community engagement.
A specific shoutout to our member David Helseth. He was honored with the Outreach Medallion for his work as our clubs liaison to the Yakima Valley Aktoon Club. ✨✨
Another great meeting today. We learned about emergency response teams and the work they do to learn from past events and be better prepped for future ones, all thanks to Jason Emhoff.
Great program on the Yakima Valley Mountain Bike Team from coach Gordon King and leader Whit Peters.
We had a special guest attend yesterday’s meeting, YSD K9 Simcoe, with his handler, Yakima County Sheriff Deputy, James Sandall. Also attending was Fern Hart, Executive Director of the K9 Foundation Yakima Valley who gave a very informative presentation on why the Foundation was started and the value K9 “officers” bring to our community. For more info see K9FoundationYV.org.
Today a group of our past presidents welcomed immediate past president, Marshall Clark, to its ranks by presenting him with his president’s plaque. Our club was fortunate to have Marshall’s strong leadership and unwavering dedication to Kiwanis guide us this past year. Congratulations, Marshall, on a job well done!
Today President Tim Surber officially welcomed two new members to Yakima Kiwanis; Tom Harris with Catholic Charities and Jenny Rodriguez with the Yakima School District. They have already jumped right in giving their time and talents for kids in our community. Welcome to Kiwanis, Tom and Jenny!
It was a great turn out for our first Trunk or Treat! We had a lot of fun handing out candy and seeing all the costumes. Next year, we will make it even bigger. Thank you to all that showed up, decorated trunks and donated!
