What a perfect match!! We are very fortunate to have AmeriCorps Member Mary Podoll leveraging her extensive agriculture background to strengthen small farms and food networks in North Dakota. After a 35 year career with USDA, she is happy to still be helping farmers but in a much more creative way. Read what she had to say about her service:

"My position as a coach/mentor Liaison for the Strong Farms Incubator Project parallels working with my family at Baldwin Greenhouse and allows me just enough of a stipend for expenses that I don’t have to work elsewhere. This way I can almost always be available to our intern participants on site. If they need to be gone for a day or two, I can ensure that their crops are cared for- or provide a helping hand! I knew about AmeriCorps, and I love the mission and values. this value added to what I was going to do anyway with Strong Farms. I feel “official” as a mentor and spokesperson, too!! Not that it keeps me from telling anyone what we are trying to accomplish with this project."

We are so grateful to Mary for choosing to use her talents and experience to strengthen her community through service! Keep up the great work, Mary!!

Another way you can support your community!

It's FAQ Friday!
Today's Q: Who are the people working at polling sites on Election Day?
A: They are ELECTION HEROES! Election workers are ordinary citizens who get TRAINED and PAID by their county. They are citizens of the US, residents of their county, and 16 years of age or older. Yes, even students can be election workers! To be an Election Hero, contact your County Auditor here: www.ndaco.org/cod/browse-by-department/ #/department/Auditor's%20Office.
Many counties have a form on their website, or use the form on the Secretary of State's office (you'll still need your county auditor's address):https://vip.sos.nd.gov/PDFs/Portals/Pollworker%20Brochure%20Fillable.pdf
