Wyoming is projected to add approximately 35,000 new jobs over the next 10 years, according to the newest long-term industry and occupational employment projections. The industries with the greatest projected job growth include accommodation & food services, health care & social assistance, construction, and transportation & warehousing.

In 2023, nearly 2,500 individuals moved to Wyoming from another state, obtained a Wyoming driver's license, and found work in the state. Many of those workers moved to Wyoming from Colorado, Florida, Texas, Montana, and Arizona. The greatest numbers of these new workers found employment in educational services, health care & social assistance, retail trade, accommodation & food services, and construction.

Wyoming's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose slightly from 2.8% in April to 2.9% in May. Wyoming’s unemployment rate has remained within the narrow range of 2.8% to 3.0% for 15 months. The U.S. unemployment rate of 4.0% in May was much higher than Wyoming’s rate.
Current Employment Statistics estimates show that total nonfarm employment in Wyoming (not seasonally adjusted and measured by place of work) rose from 292,300 in May 2023 to 295,200 in May 2024, an increase of 2,900 jobs (1.0%).

Announcing the Aaron Booker Firefighter Cancer Screening Act. Effective July 1, firefighters with at least 10 years of service in the industry may be eligible for medically indicated cancer screenings covered by workers' compensation.
This legislation acknowledges the occupational risks faced by our brave firefighters, including exposure to various carcinogens during duty. Screenings encompass examinations for breast, colon, prostate cancer, and more.

Wyoming's average monthly employment in 2023 was 278,582, an over-the-year increase of 6,362 jobs, or 2.3%. In addition, Wyoming employers paid $16.5 billion in total wages, a record high and an over-the-year increase of $1.1 billion, or 7.3%. The state's average annual wage was $59,064, up $2,745 (4.9%) compared to 2022.
