As a yoga teacher my relationship with the practice has changed. When I practise yoga now it brings a different joy than it used to. The joy of teaching comes from seeing your students benefit from the practice like I used. Buy every now and again I manage to recapture that magic of being a student, having that blissful savasana and remembering what it felt like before being a teacher. And who could not love a class in this is magnificent setting and recapturing that joy of yoga and just moving.

Who is ready for yoga this week??
I only get to teach in this gorgeous setting very few months of the year. The temperature has to be right, no wind and always watching the sun. What an amazing treat to teach here the last two days. Such a gorgeous spring day
In my latest blog, I share my deepest darkest secrets: my favorite and least favourite yoga poses. We all have them - let's normalize that and enjoy (and respect) the fact that our bodies are different and, therefore, capable of different things.

How is this pose even anatomically possible?? I know it is I have actually seen it in person, even if this person looks AI generated. Some deep, deep twists to finish off the week. Mine looks nothing like this and yours may not too. My front arm cannot bend at that angle and my back arm I don’t even know what that is doing. But of course we still try. So grateful for my yoga strap!!!
New beginner yoga series starting soon. 5 weeks of breathing, moving, fun and getting a little sweaty as the temperatures drop.
Join me this Sunday April 23 9.00 to 11.30 for the level 2 inversion workshop. We will work on strength and conditioning for inversions. We will then spend sometime on hands stands and forearm balances. This workshop is recommended for people who can kick up to handstand. A few spots have opened. DM me to join.
Perfect autumn day at the studio. I love my little yoga home. All About Yoga regulars can’t wait to see you back studio next week. Take the time to stroll on the green grass barefoot and appreciate the view and the flowers. Oh the flowers the rain has really been feeding them!!
Happy holidays to all those celebrating over the next few days. If you are will family cherish the time. If you are traveling stay safe. See you all again on Monday the 17th.
To lasagna or pendant pose. This is what we are working on in class this work in all its variations. I have never been able to do lolasana with a block. Finally making some progress of holding my body off the floor with no blocks (pic 2). Now I need to build the strength to straighten the arms and work that wrist extension. The constant pursuit of trying to achieve more. So grateful for a body that enables me to do these things.
Join me for two new exciting workshops. Level 1 we will focus on kick ups finding the optimal line, building strength in this line and then finding your line. Level 2 will take all of these drills to the next level and build strength in forearm and handstand positions. You can of course join for one level only. But I recommend for all those who want to do level 2 you do level 1 as well. All details can be found online www.allaboutyoga/workshops. DM me if you have any questions.
Another gorgeous hot week in Cape Town … finishing off with forward folds. Next week we twisting. And don’t forget the beginners series which starts on Monday night also. February is going to be a busy one.

My Secret Life as a Yoga Teacher, Learner, and Workshop Groupie
“I often reflect on my yoga teaching journey and sometimes wonder whether I should have become a yoga teacher in Cape Town, especially when there are so many already. I know that sounds crazy, but I initially started practicing yoga because it was so enjoyable to me, not because I saw it as a business opportunity.”

When your teacher does complicated yoga strap work,
Especially on zoom. And you want to kill her. Rather do what Dobby does and take it out on the strap.
Inversion workshop coming up November 6. Don’t be worried we are not spending all the time on handstands. We will focus on 3 inversions and drills for them. Sirsasana, pinchu mayurasana and of course handstands. We will go slowly and carefully. It will be informative, you will work hard, but will have rest breaks. Please DM me to join. Or refer to website for more details. NB. You must have some experience with weight bearing poses. This is not suited to absolute beginners, yet you don’t need to be able to handstand to attend.
When I reflect on my relationship with yoga backbends, I must admit for many years I hated them. If I went to a yoga class and it was a backbends class, I would shudder because they were damn sore. However, I have not always had this relationship with backbends.

Spring time yoga treat. Nothing quite like teaching and practicing with this view and in such gorgeous spring weather.
This week we worked so hard on Tittibhasana, or firefly pose. And well we may not all have felt as pretty as a firefly hunched over and sweating to get off the floor, the magic actually happens before we get to the final pose. So well done to all who came and played with me. Rest of the week we moving to simpler moves but there will still be a little bit of flying. Join me for more fun. Thursday 5pm.
Join me for a fun and different yoga morning exploring backbends with a chair. Sunday September 4th, 9am to 12pm. The workshop is 2.5hrs followed by a light breakfast. Visit the website for more details.
Exciting back bending workshop coming up soon. Spaces are limited to remember to book ASAP.
