After attending the National Quadrennial meeting of the SANCB in October, our National Chairperson, Miss Tracy Smith, was invited to speak at the Inclusifest Disability Day which was organized by the KwaZulu Natal Blind and Deaf Society. It took place on Saturday 9 October at the Umhlanga Hindu Society, and was a great success. There was a great vibe and everybody was having a blast.

Our Acting National Chairman, Tracy Smith is involved in her community as she played the piano for Doon Heights Primary School in Amanzimtoti for the Choir Festival on 14 October. This Choir Festival happens annually — an event where all the primary schools of Amanzimtoti come together and sing, in aid of local charities.

It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Philip Dobson, our National Director, who served Deafblind South Africa since 2008. The office staff said their goodbyes with tea and snacks.
Philip, we know it's goodbye and not farewell as you continue to serve your community, family and church. We honour you for your legacy of passionate service to DeafBlind people.

The World Federation of the Deafblind (WFDB) held its 2nd technical SHAPES workshop in person in Geneva on 11-13 July 2022, to gather feedback and the perspective of persons with deafblindness.

The 2nd Technical Workshop included the participation of members of WFDB and the The EDbU - The European Deafblind Union. One of the aims of this workshop was to strengthen ties within the deafblind community and SHAPES partners, as well as international stakeholders, such as the International Disability Alliance the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Office of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
