There might not be sleigh bells ringing, but the team at Mobo have been happily singing all week long!

We’ve had the merriest of Christmas’ this July, with so many of our participants – and even our staff getting in on the festive fun at Mobo!

We might not have gotten our Christmas tree out just yet, but we’ve been rocking around the office and the production floor, having plenty of merry fun while we’re working!

We really are a festive bunch here at Mobo, always eager to create plenty of fun while we’re prospering in employment – and that is a gift we’ll share, any day of the year! 🎄🎅🎁

Last night, our Employment Services Officer Renae, from our Berri Site attended the Pathways Expo held for year 10-12 students.

To support students as they prepare to take the leap to prosper in their futures, a range of different tertiary education, apprenticeship, and employment service providers came together at Loxton High School to meet and talk to the students.

During the event, Renae got to meet and talk with a range of students and parents about the employment pathways that Mobo provides throughout the Riverland and wider South Australia.

It was a really successful night for Renae and for Mobo! And we’d like to send a hearty thank you to Loxton High School for inviting us to your Pathways Evening!

Check out the photos of the team dressed merry and bright for Christmas in July! 🎄

The whole team escaped from the cold and dreary weather by wishing her a very happy birthday, and sharing in some delicious mini cupcakes!

Happy Birthday Monique! 🎉🎉🎂

A rainy day at Goolwa Salvage and Save can't dampen our spirits! We're choosing to see the beauty in the rain and celebrate life, especially Moni's birthday!🌧️🥳

South Coast Firewood is running hot, Hot, HOT! 🔥🔥🔥

Only 12 days after their last delivery, they've already needed to reorder an additional 51 tonnes of firewood for our customers!

That's 5 tonnes sold every day, in the last 10 working days alone! An incredible accomplishment for our team! We also have to thank all of you who made purchases for supporting our team of people with disability to prosper in employment! 💪

Get yourself the firewood you need to keep your home warm this winter out at South Coast Firewood. With your support we might well need to order ANOTHER 50 tonne by the end of July!

Photos from Salvage & Save Elizabeth's post 15/07/2024

Don't these just look awesome? 🤩

To spread the name of Mobo in the community, we decided to wrap the trucks that Salvage and Save use to collect donations and deliver purchases to customers!

It's also a not-so-subtle hint to our brand update 😉 - you might have seen bits and pieces of it around Mobo lately, and there will be plenty more updates to come in the future!

Massive thank you to Get Displays for putting these together for us!

Have you seen our new trucks out in the community?

Damien had struggled on his own to find meaningful employment, and so he turned to Mobo’s Edwardstown office for assistance.

Check out Damien’s journey to prosper, and find meaningful empowerment in employment, and how it almost fell apart in the early days.

With Damien’s determination to succeed, and the support of the team from Mobo, Damien’s future is looking bigger and brighter!

There's a cherry on top of an awesome day at Mobo!

One of the customers who recently bought furniture from Salvage & Save Goolwa sent a review for us to share!

We're so happy you love your purchases Michelle, and so grateful for your kind words for our team, AND that your contribution helps to empower people with disability to prosper in meaningful employment! 💪

Enjoy your fabulous new living room set up!

Doesn’t it feel awesome to get some new tech to help you out with your day-to-day tasks?

One of our NDIS Participants, Craig is certainly feeling that way out at South Coast Firewood, with a brand-new bagging stand helping him to work even more efficiently!

With this bagging stand, Craig’s work got so much easier, being able to simply lay the weighed firewood, shuffle the bag into place, and drop the firewood in, rather than adding pieces one at a time.

With this new tool, there’s going to be way more of our weighed bags of quality firewood and kindling available! Come grab yours today from the team at South Coast Firewood.

It has been absolutely freezing this week! 🥶❄️

Luckily, the team out at South Coast Firewood has a red-hot solution! 🔥🔥

They’ve just received a huge 40 tonne delivery of high quality dried Redgum firewood, perfectly sized and ready to warm your home!

Secure your trailer load by seeing the team at 44-46 George Main Road, Victor Harbor to pick up all you need to keep your whole home warm on these chilly winter days and nights!

They’re open from 9am-4pm Monday through Friday, and 9am-1pm on Saturdays.

Get in quick, the cold weather will be hanging around, but this supply of quality firewood will not!

*Bulk redgum firewood $580/tonne. Minimum purchase 100kg.

Celebrating our NDIS Participants as they prosper in meaningful employment is one of our favourite things to do!

As we rode past the halfway mark of the year, Tanya from our Salvage & Save site in Goolwa was recognised officially for her ability and determination she shows in employment, not only today, but for the previous 16 years she’s been a part of our team!

Well done and keep up the fantastic work Tanya!

We’re a hard working team here at MOBO Group, some days it’s worth acknowledgment.

Tanya has been dedicated to our site for a long time and is expanding her talents to a number of areas. Lately she has shown excellence in our electrical testing and customer service area, and for this reason we have identified her as worthy of a recognition award. She was stoked and celebrated in style.

We’re incredibly proud of her at Goolwa Salvage and Save

Today the team at Mobo said a bittersweet farewell to our Executive Manager of Quality and Compliance, Nina (centre, in the snazzy red jacket).

She’s been with Mobo for a little over 2 years and has always been a beloved member of our family. However new opportunities have come knocking, and Nina has decided to move on to a new adventure!

While we are a little sad to see her go, we wish Nina the very best in her next chapter and are so grateful for the passion and dedication Nina has shown Mobo during her time as part of our team.

The whole team at Hindmarsh came together for a delicious morning tea, and a beautiful send-off for Nina on her last day!

Empowering NDIS Participants to prosper in employment is an important part of what we do, but we’re more than capable of having fun too!

The team at Salvage & Save Goolwa celebrated the halfway mark of the year in style, by inviting the crew to dinner at The Grosvenor Hotel and a special screening of the new Mad Max movie, Furiosa, at the Victa Cinema!

At Mobo, it’s not just about providing meaningful employment opportunities to people living with disability; it’s about fostering meaningful friendships and creating unforgettable memories for the entire team, both in and outside of the workplace!

Here’s to a wonderful night out by the team at Goolwa, and to reaching the halfway mark of 2024!

It’s been a wild week at Mobo!

With so many of our NDIS Participants showing off their favourite animals through their outfits, we’ve had it all from adorable otters to majestic tigers and fearsome crocodiles, even a few familiar mice!

Celebrating all fluffy, scaley and feathery creatures both great and small brings so much joy to our Participants, switching up the work week and allowing people to have even more fun while at work!

The smiles on everyone’s faces easily makes it all worthwhile as we all prosper in meaningful employment!

Remember Lucille?

We shared a good news story about her journey to meaningful employment back in February 2023. Since that time, Lucille completed her 52 weeks of ongoing employment, and was exited from our services at Mobo.

Since becoming independent in her employment journey at the River Murray and Mallee Aboriginal Corporation (RMMAC), Lucille has risen in the ranks to become a Senior Ranger!

Just this morning, ABC shared an article featuring an interview with Lucille about the Murray River’s recovery following major flooding earlier this year, and the massive improvements to the local ecosystem and wildlife because of the flowing water.

We may not get to see Lucille in our outreach offices anymore, but we’re so happy to hear that Lucille is continuing to be successful in her role and prospering in meaningful employment!

Check out the article that ABC shared using the link below, or step back in time and see how Lucille’s early road to open employment empowered her with the tools she needed to get to where she is today!

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-06-17/river-murray-ecosystem-flood-recovery-riverland-sa/103969388

We’re so proud of you Lucille, keep up the fantastic work!

This is Lucille! A jobseeker from our Berri Office who has made incredible progress not only finding employment with the RMMAC, and becoming an educator for her community, but also in reconnecting with the First Nations People of the Murray Darling Basin.

All of us at Mobo are always so happy to hear when one of our Jobseekers makes strides towards becoming the best they can be!

Join us in wishing Lucille the very best of luck in her role!

What’s your favourite animal? 🐶🦁🐴🦏🐷🐼🐸🦆🐍

Next week, we’re inviting everyone at Mobo to break out their animal ears, tails and prints, and celebrate all of our faviourite creatures that crawl, prowl, swim, jump, climb and fly.

Shaking out our wings from the chilly winter air and flying through our week (dressing up or not) is one of our favourite things to do at Mobo! We hope you’ll join us this time next week to see all the fluffy, scaley and feathery outfits worn by our team at work as we celebrate our favourite animals!

Check out the awesome restoration and upcycling work done by the team at Salvage & Save Windmill Hill!

Upcycling projects just like these give our NDIS Participants the opportunity to learn and practice their skills, increasing their capacity in employment through producing a product that anyone can be proud of!

The end result is absolutely beautiful, and would make an amazing addition to any dining area!

The long table has already been snapped up, and no doubt the square table will disappear from the showroom floor at Windmill Hill very soon!

Photos from Mobo Group's post 04/06/2024

There was an unexpected but very welcome visitor to our Hindmarsh office this morning!

Nicole, the Salvage & Save Elizabeth site manager brought her one-and-a-half-year-old puppy, Louie, to the office to say hello!

Our Marketing Officer, Sam, who is usually behind the camera, was ecstatic to have a furry friend visit the office on what would have been an average Tuesday.

It may be cold and gray outside, but at Mobo, the sun always shines as we empower people with disabilities to prosper in meaningful employment.

Happy Tuesday!

31/05/2024

It’s a very happy Friday here at Hindmarsh!

Not only for the conclusion of another great week of prospering in meaningful employment for all of our staff and participants!

But also, because after today, we’re turning to a new page in our calendars and to the beginning of the winter season!

While the outside world is getting much colder and rainier, the sun is always shining, and the atmosphere is always warm at Mobo!

We’d like to wish you all a warm and wonderful weekend as we all step together into June!

Photos from Mobo Group's post 28/05/2024

Yesterday, as part of National Reconciliation Week, the team from our Salisbury Office attended a special viewing of ‘The Last Daughter’ at the Salisbury Cinema.

The movie follows the story of Brenda, an Australian aboriginal woman who grew up as part of the stolen generations, on her journey to reconnect and reconciliate the two sides of her life and family.

Sara, Wendy and Malcolm greatly enjoyed the movie and used the opportunity both as a team building activity, and to increase their awareness and understanding of the lives, cultures and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

27/05/2024

Today we wished a very happy birthday to one of our NDIS Participants!

The whole team came together to celebrate, with a delicious chocolate cake from the Cheesecake Shop, and a joyous rendition of Happy Birthday!

Getting together to celebrate our team like this is one of our favourite things to do at Mobo, and helps us to have fun and engage with each other while we prosper in employment! Whether it’s for a birthday, celebrating an achievement, or just because we can – we pride ourselves on finding ways to enjoy each other’s company and develop and maintain long lasting friendships!

Our Story

Mobo Group was created due to the merge of two successful disability enterprises, Hands On SA (HOSA) and Finding Workable Solutions (FWS). Prior to the merge the HOSA brand had 55 years of history and the FWS brand had 28 years. Mobo Group was founded in 1963 by a group of parents of children with a disability who wanted to provide their children with vocational training and real employment opportunities.

Today, Mobo Group provides employment to more than 200 people living with a disability across two metropolitan sites spanning from Kingscote to Berri.

Of upmost importance to our entire organisation is the empowerment of our employees and for our business to be the best it can be. We value listening and understanding to create the best outcome; whether it be support for employees or a savvy commercial solution. We will do whatever it takes to deliver better business and better lives. We believe the sky is the limit and our structure gives us the freedom to continually explore what’s next.
