Welcome. When you know that the annual carer bonus established about 20 years ago paying recipients of the carer payment $600 every July has not increased no cpi indexation no additional money whatsoever you get a really clear picture that the government cares about us not at all?
It’s a total disgrace!
The carers allowance was originally called the domicillary nursing home benefit to honour the intensity of the work family carers providing in home care. It was paid at 33% of what nursing homes received to provide care for residents?
Today that rate has been whittled down to just 6% of the rate that a nursing home receives for undertaking the same work?
