// GOALS // Why even set them??
So often when asked "what are your goals?" the response is something similar to "lose weight", "get fit" "tone up", "build some muscle". These goals are very broad and do not allow a person to be laser focused on what they want to achieve. Lets put it this way - if the goal was to "lose weight" & we complete your body scan in wk1 & wk8, the results in wk8 showed your scale weight had reduced by 200gm (you lost 100gm of muscle and 100gm of fat). Technically you achieved your goal of "weight loss" because 200gm of "weight" was lost; would you be happy with your result?? The answer is ALWAYS No!

Now, lets go back to the drawing board and set a specific goal to "lose 3kg of Body FAT", we wrote that goal down, now we know the target you are aiming for and you are so much more closer to reaching it just by knowing exactly what you want to achieve.

Inevitably 9/10 of those who return with their written goals have achieved them or come very very close to it.

Setting written goals is powerful and it works!

We wont go into your "why" for setting this goal today but understand that through our years of coaching, training & completing body composition analysis, those that are most successful in achieving their healthier, fitter, happier self have embraced the skill of

Tamara has recently completed the Maxine's Challenge again & achieved fantastic results... while Karissa has completed an 8 week challenge through Anytime Fitness Munno Para West & is studying to become a PT.

Our Body Scans have helped both of these ladies track their progress by learning & understanding how much of their "scale weight" change was attributed to muscle gains (good ✅) or losses (no good ❌) & fat mass +/- .

~ The broad answer is both! WHY?
~ Both can be effective but much more effective when used together ~ When you build skeletal muscle through weight training your body's metabolic rate increases, effectively making your body more efficient.
~ Cardio, particularly higher intensity cardio will assist in Fat Burning
~ HIIT (high intensity intervals) after your weight training is very effective, it raises the amount of oxygen your body consumes for up to 24 hours, your resting metabolic rate will increase resulting in more calories being burned!!

// SKIPPING // Now here is an exercise I don't see people doing often enough! WHY Skip you ask??? There are several reasons:

1. It BURNS FAT
Longer sessions of skipping can burn a lot calories. The great thing about varying your jump rope training to include shorter, high-intensity intervals is that you are getting a much "higher muscle activation and recruiting more muscle fibers for both upper and lower body". This will actually help you build muscle over time - The more muscle you build the more efficient your body is likely to be... ie think "your burn rate increases even while you are sleeping!"

2. It is great for AGILITY & COORDINATION
Agility & co-ordination will complement your training regime, skipping requires you to co-ordinate your upper and lower body which can help with those more complex movements.

3. Its FUN & SATISFYING
Skipping is a challenge for many people, getting to the 1 minute mark can be a huge achievement... so set the goal, get yourself a Heart Foundation rope (these are the best to learn on) and go have yourself some FUN while keeping your heart rate up and maybe learning something new!
