Today, my family and I played a fantastic card game called Getting Lost. We put away our devices, spent quality time together, and stumbled upon some hidden gems in our beautiful city.
This game is a great reminder of the joys of exploring and connecting with each other. Sometimes, the best moments are those unplanned journeys that lead to new discoveries. ❤️

I love when people ask me for book recommendations for teenagers! Check out some of the books in my daughter’s room. Every teen is unique and will be ready for different types of books at different times, but these are some of the top picks for my 13-year-old neurotypical daughter. ❤️

“Selfcare isn’t just about taking care of yourself, it’s about how you are working towards being your own best human. Which in my definition, involves how we are treating the earth and people around us.” Natalie, Meraki Self Care.
Today is and it can help to reflect on ways our own mental health and well-being is interconnected with the wellbeing of the planet. This photo is of my daughter in front of an incredible mural on the Berlin Wall, on Christmas Day 2019.
The article below provides a good perspective about the ways our own self care affects the environment. ❤️

How beautiful is Adelaide in the winter time? My morning walks with my dog are an essential part of my self care routine.
But it hasn’t always been that way. It took months of building this habit, learning ways I could make it work for me longer term and make it stick.
How many times do we have good intentions, to start a new exercise regime, cook healthy foods, attend a new group, complete some study, only to achieve it only once or twice, or fail to start altogether?
Not surprisingly, it is often because we set unrealistic expectations, and get caught in black and white thinking, in “shoulds” and “musts”. When I removed the self-imposed pressure to walk for a minimum time each day, it became a lot harder for me to find excuses. If I “must” walk for 30 minutes, it’s easy for me to bow out on days where I don’t have 30 minutes. Now, I can’t bow out and I can’t fail - even 1 minute of walking in nature means I have achieved my goal. And I can always find 1 minute ❤️

Today marks the end of school holidays in our house. It's always a bittersweet time for me.
What I love most is the return to routine, my morning “school run” river walks, and the capacity to give myself more fully to work again after a long summer.
It can be a tricky time for families, but something I try to remind myself and my clients is that the change of season is so crucial for good mental health. It allows us to take a fresh perspective, a new start and an opportunity to reconnect with our values meaningfully. ❤️
We hosted autism and ADHD assessment training at Mindful Pathways yesterday…the team, along with external psychologist colleagues upskilled in recognising nuanced presentations of autism and ADHD, and explored neuroaffirming approaches to autism and ADHD assessment ❤️
