Currently, when a cyclist-motor vehicle accident happens, it's a blame game. And it's up to the injured cyclist to prove the driver was at fault.
It's no surprise that some cyclists are calling for a change - for a strict liability system instead of Queensland's fault-based system.
But what is strict liability? And what would it mean if it were applied here?
Read our latest article to find out here: https://www.cyclelaw.com.au/who-is-at-fault-strictly-speaking/
We've all seen them - the bit of the road before an intersection with bicycles painted onto it. What's its exact purpose?
Well, these bicycle boxes (also known as bicycle storage areas) are actually in place to make cyclists more visible to drivers and to give them a head start.
And why is this, you ask? It's all part of a bid to improve cyclist road safety.
Read our latest article for more information here: https://www.cyclelaw.com.au/bicycle-boxes-what-are-they-and-what-do-they-do/
Since Australians welcomed delivery platforms, such as Deliveroo and UberEATS, to their doorsteps in 2015, we saw a shift in the 'gig economy'. Now, it's standard practice to whip out your phone, have a scroll through the options, and choose what you want to be delivered straight to you.
But what about the gig workers themselves? Are food delivery riders independent contractors or employees? If a rider's injured while completing a delivery, should they be entitled to workers' compensation?
Drop your thoughts in the comments below and check out our latest article for more information here: https://www.cyclelaw.com.au/cyclists-and-the-gig-economy/

Why am Gerard doing this?
Because cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in Australia.
Every 2 minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer.
Gerard's challenge is nothing compared to what these brave kids face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease.
Kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it.
And so, Gerard is taking on this 300 km challenge to end childhood cancer and save little lives.
Please support Gerard by donating through his fundraising page:
