Introducing my new Exhibition series called Southern Edge. I took this series in the pandemic year of 2021 of my native island - Tasmania's wilderness. Deciduous beech or fagus is only found in the world in the alpine regions of Tasmania. Its breathtaking colour appears only during Autumn. This print is available in limited edition. It is printed on fine art archival paper, and available Australia wide. Post extra. For more info, visit my website.

Thrilled to share my entry The Gloaming, received a Commended Award in the Landscape competition, Australian Photography(AP). I shot it off my front deck one glorious evening. AP received over 2,000 entries and, with my help, were able to donate over $10,000 to the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF).
My first artwork for 2023! I found this fledgling welcome swallow (Hirundo Neoxena) on wet grass early one morning; its nest destroyed by a predator bird. Carefully scooping it up, I held it to my breast, warming its tiny lifeless body. After a few minutes, a tiny flutter of movement gave me some hope.
So I set up a borrowed nest on an old cedar church pedestal near to the original swallows' nesting site. Once the little bird was nestled in, I withdrew a distance to observe the parent birds still about. Would the mother find her young again? Would she feed it? In silent anticipation I kept vigil, waiting in my makeshift hide. Soon I was to be rewarded.
Both appeared, darting in circular motion around the nest site. Then the mother swallow swooped in, landed, and found its offspring in the nest.
Given a second chance at life, the little bird's yellow mouth popped wide open and the mother began feeding. She continued to return every few minutes with more nourishment all that day, and long into the gloaming night.
Next day I witnessed not only seeing the little swallow's amazing recovery, but its first flight from the nest to the safely of a neighbouring grove of blackwood trees, with its parent birds rejoining it, flying in formation.
Hi folks , I'm back with the best of my journeying for 2022. This was the gorgeous view from my camp in central Australia. It dropped to minus 2 degrees overnight whilst I was there, but the days were clear and warm. The Finke region is well worth a visit.
Enjoyed a great flight into Anna Creek Painted Hills. To sign up to my newsletter for my blog, go to 'contact me' at www.catherinedeboer.com

Watch out for my forthcoming Exhibition and new Book launch early December in Melbourne. My new photographic series forms part of my Diploma. Called 'Southern Edge', it shines a light on Tasmania's remote wilderness areas, that are not only beautiful, but endangered.

I spent several weeks journeying through south and western Africa in 2017. I found these egrets resting on thorny acacia bushes, at a waterhole, after I arrived at camp in southern Namibia. It was close to sunset, so I hastily set about capturing these birds, resting on thorny acacia bushes. Moments after I took this, a large crocodile launched out of the water and snapped, just missing this pair!
My photographic journey through east and west Africa formed the basis of my first published photobook- African Ark.
This work is up for sale as part of an online photography print auction. The silent auction is being held to raise funds for students' Diploma Graduating Exhibition.
