You can’t afford to miss today’s session if Reading and Writing in PTE are your main concerns.

Today we’ll be focusing on how you can DOUBLE or even TRIPLE both your reading speed and comprehension when doing SWTs or any reading tasks. THE BOTTOM LINE: reading speed and comprehension are the very foundations for a higher band score.

Then we’ll be doing at least three SWTs and discuss:
- what sort of information you need to use to compose a band 9 equivalent response
- what sort of information you MUST avoid
- what type of sentencing and language is required for a band 9 sample
- what differentiates a band 6, 7, 8 or 9 response

REMEMBER, the distribution of fit-for-a-summary information depends upon a text type. NEVER assume that you will get a band 9 score by simply picking information from each paragraph.

Enriching experience!

I’m delighted to have completed my duties as a judge in the senior category of Queen’s Commonwealth Writing Competition — a 150-year-old platform established in London with the competition itself having a history of 140+ years.

It was fantastic to see budding writers experimenting with different aspects of English — the form, language, prosody, syntax, style — to communicate their ideas of the contemporary world in the light of the values and principles of the Commonwealth. I never felt so much connected to different perspectives of cultural, ethical, moral or even political values of the different parts of the world, especially the Commonwealth, as I did while judging the entries for this comp.

I do care for my students, and I don’t want them to be pressed. They must NOT go through unbearable stress.

Isn’t being on a student visa enough of a headache?
