With great disappointment, it has been mandated and imposed on the dental community that we are unable to see patients for the next six weeks. We are as frustrated as you are! (probably even more so) Here is what you need to know:

• Patients in Port Fairy, Warrnambool, Bairnsdale - your appointments will take place as scheduled.

• Patients in Mt Eliza and the Mornington Peninsula - your appointments have been deferred for six weeks. You do not need to do anything at this time.

• You will receive an email reminder prior to your deferred appointment. Should the new date or time need to be rearranged, please contact us.

• Patients will be contacted individually if we need to see them during the shutdown period.

• New patients may schedule a no-cost virtual consult during the shutdown period.

• SMS 0400 664 464 AT ANY TIME, should you have concerns about your appliances or treatment. Remember to include the patient's name and birthday or ID.

How to look after your teeth if you can’t get to your orthodontic appointment Whether it’s due to coronavirus, or an extended holiday, we’ve put together some tips for what to do when you can’t visit your chosen specialist.

Good morning! To our patients in Port Fairy and Warrnambool ~ Dr Hanks will be in Warrnambool tomorrow (Thursday 9th). If you have a concern, some colored ties have come loose, something broken, or just a question, contact us ~ we are here for you!

Wearing braces or aligners? Your teeth are actively straightening! No one can tell them to stop working ;) We are monitoring the treatment of each patient and if you need us, we are available. Dr Hanks will be in Bairnsdale tomorrow (Monday 6th) ~ for our Gippsland patients, if you need anything, let us know!

COVID-19 update.

In light of concerns surrounding coronavirus we have made the difficult decision to close our practice to physical patient appointments from COB Friday 27th March 2020. The health and safety of our patients, staff and whole community is our first priority.

If your appointment time has been affected, we will be contacting you to reschedule and discuss next steps.
We are currently reviewing each patient’s treatment plan as appointments are rescheduled, to minimise the impact this delay will have on your overall treatment time.

We are still open, working remotely and offering virtual appointments to attend to your needs:

~We will attend to emergency appointments. For any emergencies, please phone us to discuss and we will advise on the best course of action

~Virtual appointments are available with our team to review your treatment progress

~Patients currently undergoing Invisalign treatment will continue wearing your aligners as usual

~New patient consultations that are deferred, can be done virtually, free of charge, during this period

Rest assured, we are still here for you and we will do our best to keep your treatment on track. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns regarding your treatment during this time, please contact us via phone or email.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will re-open when the government lockdown is lifted.

Coronavirus update: Should I still see my orthodontist? Your specialist orthodontist is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving coronavirus situation and following the advice of the Australian Government.

We want you to know that the health and well-being of our team and patients is of the highest priority to us. With the rapidly-changing challenges brought about by the COVID-19 Coronavirus, we are taking extra steps to ensure that our patients and our team are protected.

In an effort to keep you informed of the measures we are taking and our schedule, I ask that you please read the following:

We are taking all necessary steps to minimise the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus as recommended by the World Health Organisation, Australian Dental Association and Australian Government. During this difficult time, we remain fully committed to delivering the best possible care to our patients.

It will be business as usual at Hanks Orthodontics while we monitor and follow the guidelines and recommendations of our fellow health organisations. Any questions or concerns may be addressed by emailing [email protected]

~Hand sanitising stations are provided throughout the clinic for patient and staff use

~In addition to our usual cleaning procedures, we are taking extra measures and adding a disinfectant wipe down to commonly touched areas at least once daily

~In the event that an orthodontic patient or family member has symptoms related to those associated with the Coronavirus (fever, persistent cough, shortness of breath) we ask that you do not come to the office. Please contact us so that we may postpone your next visit until an appropriate time

~To date we have no team members or patients that have known exposure to, symptoms related to, or confirmation of the coronavirus

~Any patients who have been overseas in the past 14 days are asked not to come to the practice but to call the staff and we will advise accordingly

~Our infection control remains of the highest standard. All clinics are thoroughly cleaned and instruments sterilized, as always

~Staff are being asked to self-quarantine for 14 days if they have flu-like symptoms or if they come into contact with anyone who has the virus

~As a temporary measure, we ask that you try to limit to one extra person accompanying the patient inside if necessary
