Ffion Hemphrey is this week's ! ✨
Ffion graduated from Collarts in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music Production. Her 'Don't Do Remix Xritia & Cropley' has over 23,000 streams and she has just released her new track 'Lost in You'. Vynes was also selected for APRA's Women in Music Mentorship program.
'My time in my music production degree had a huge influence on the writing and production of this track. When I was studying at Collarts I was surrounded by so much different music. In a lot of the assessments we had to make a lot of different music and I was always being shown different music by my teachers and friends which really influenced my sound to what it is / has come to be.
In my last year at Collarts, I started making a lot more uplifting and atmospheric electronic music. 'Lost In You' is basically a by-product of the music I was starting to make at Collarts and finding my sound after lots of experimentation throughout my degree.'

"Blak, Loud and Proud" encapsulates the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity, empowering us to stand tall in our heritage and assert our place in the modern world. This theme calls for a reclamation of narratives, an amplification of voices, and an unwavering commitment to justice and equality. It invites all Australians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are fully valued and respected.
During , let’s educate ourselves and our communities about the histories, achievements, and challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land.

Meet Julieanne McBain, the founder behind the Toowoomba Fashion Festival! Graduating from Collarts with a Bachelor of Fashion Marketing in 2022, Julieanne, along with Christel Ryley, brought this festival to life in 2023.
The Toowoomba Fashion Festival began with Julieanne and Christel's vision to fill a gap in the local fashion scene. Recently, Toowoomba has undergone a cultural shift, resulting in Julieanne and Christel seizing this opportunity to cultivate a vibrant and diverse fashion community through the festival. Their vision extends beyond providing a platform for emerging and established creatives across regional Queensland - it also aims to enhance local tourism opportunities.
‘’Our 2024 festival was held in March and received an incredible response from attendees and media personnel. As Creative Director, I created the vision and branding for the festival and its runways and coordinated designers, models, and volunteers. We had over 25 collections showcased, over 3 runways including from emerging and student designers. We had 35 models and over 30 volunteers help to bring the festival together and it was also estimated that the festival brought approximately $50k in tourism revenue to the city. On top of these results, by working alongside our sustainability partner, we were also able to produce one of Australia's first sustainability-minded fashion festivals.’’
Julieanne and Christel are hard at work planning the 2025 festival, set for 22 March, 2025! They've teamed up with incredible organizations like Mind Your Fashion to create pathways for designers and models to appear on the runways in New York and Milan.

Featuring 15 acts of original material performed live to large, enthusiastic audiences, these stand up shows marked the first professional experience for many students.
"Our students enjoyed an exciting creative experience which most emerging comedians won't see for years. I wish I'd had this opportunity when I was learning the craft. Our Graphic and Digital Design, Photography, Fashion, Interior Design and Animation students and academics recently came together for Melbourne Design Week to collaborate on a range of group installations and workshops.
Yes-No Right-Left On-Off Beyond the Binary was the overarching title of the group exhibition at Collarts' Brunswick Street Campus, a two-pronged event that investigated the visual language of complexity and uncertainty.
Students and staff from the Interior Design course created an installation, 'The Garden of Colliding Colours', that explored and interrogated what lies beyond binary distinctions in the liminal space or the space in-between, against the backdrop of an complex and uncertain world.
The custom artwork by Oli Ruskidd, was painted with recycled artists inks from Lousy Ink on a patchwork ‘canvas’ of sewn wallpaper samples.
Collarts also held an immersive workshop titled, 'Beyond CYMK', held in the exhibition space, and served as a space where art meets emotion in an exploration of colour and pattern. Oli Ruskidd delved into the liminal space between the standard colour options of CYMK, where hues merge and patterns intertwine to evoke a kaleidoscope of emotions. Participants were guided by Oli and a skilled art therapist as they connected with their emotions with mindfulness and intention as they created their own mural.
