Hi everyone, unfortunately we will be closed for now due to the coronavirus, as it is too difficult to practice social distancing in our tiny space! We will try to stock up the free shelf outside our door for this time :)

02/03/2020

Greetings in the new semester! Our opening hours this week may be a bit sketchy as we find volunteers and organize our roster. If we happen to be closed, you can still check out our free shelf for books and message us with any questions! Our featured zine for the week is all about cooperatives, you can find it on the free shelf! And if you'd like to join our volunteer team yourself you can email [email protected]. Cheerio!

The Melbourne Uni Book Co-op (aka the BookRoom aka The Real Book Co-op) is a student-run book shop in Union House on Level 1 right across from the Food Co-op. We stock affordable textbooks, fiction and zines! We’re open 11-3 weekdays during semester and even when we’re closed there’s always a selection of free books outside our door to have a browse through. You can also donate your old textbooks to us :) We're looking for new volunteers to help make the Book Co-op an amazing resource for students. ❤

🚨🚨🚨The sacred Djab Wurrung trees and the embassy protecting them is about to be raided by police on behalf of Victorian Labor!! 🚨🚨🚨

RED ALERT Victoria Police have confirmed they will invade camp and arrest people on Country to start works TODAY. If it's within your capacity to go and help blockade please stand with Mob on land which their sovereignty was never ceded, or share amongst your circles to activate anyone within their strengths.

Top camp is opposite Warrayatkin Rd on the Western Highway 2h drive from Melbourne, 10km out of Ararat.

This is one of the longest blockades and one of the strongest stands against colonisation and cultural devastation Victoria has seen this century. Vicroads threaten to desecrate sacred women's birthing trees and cultural land for the brief and unnecessary extension of the Western Highway.

ALL HANDS ON DECK.

Let’s Stop Romanticizing Mr. Darcy When There Are Way Better Options in Literature

Imo the romance of Mr Darcy is that he gets criticised for his behaviour and then takes legitimate steps to apologise, make amends, and change his attitude.

themarysue.com Everyone loves Pride and Prejudice's Mr. Darcy, but Little Women's Professor Bhaer might provide a healthier view of what to look for in romance.

Unintentional Literature: Poememes as poetic practice - Sydney Review of Books

sydneyreviewofbooks.com ‘Just as there is no one way to write a poem, there is no one way to compose a meme. And, as with poetry, there are a number of forms and types of memes, the conditions of which provide some guidance or instruction regarding form and content. In the same way that the haiku form is typically charac...
