Maps for Penguins and Other Travelling Animals
by Tracey Turner abd Hui Skipp
Animals don’t really need maps, but you can use the ones in this book to travel all over the world. Along the way you can …
– step inside the territory of a Bengal tiger
– run with a wolf pack across the Alaskan wilderness
– swim to Hawai’i with humpback whales
– visit ring-tailed lemurs in a Madagascar forest
– discover where emperor penguins lay their eggs.
Find out how these amazing animals make their journeys without GPS, along with lots of fascinating information about where they go and how they live. You’ll meet poisonous caterpillars, dancing bees, singing whales, and very chilly penguins.
The Teacher Resource Bookshop will be closed for the Melbourne Cup holiday on Tuesday November 1st...back again on Wednesady!

Dirt by Sea
by Michael Wagner and Tom Jellett
Explore our wonderful coastline and the joy of a family road-trip with Dad and Daisy!
Featuring 40 pages of extraordinary comic-style illustrations, this unique picture book will have you dreaming of a holiday around Australia.
Daisy lives in inland Australia with her dad and her grandparents. It’s home, and she loves the red dirt land around her. But when her dad realises that she’s never seen the beach and thinks the Australian anthem is about a country ‘dirt by sea’, he sets off to show her the ocean in a once-in-a-lifetime father-daughter trip along the Australian coast, inspired by the first holiday he took with Daisy's mum.
Along the way they will learn about Australia and much, much more . . .
Great ideas for a great book.
Thanks to the Primary English Teaching Association Australia (PETAA) for sharing such super resources for all the Children's Book Council of Australia award-winners including Jetty Jumping.

Gus and the Starlight by Victoria Carless
Another weekend just flew by with me avoiding the housework again!
Gus and the Starlight landed on our shelves this month, and has been calling to me ever since. So it went home with me last week, and am almost finished. (I managed to squeeze in a few replays of Le Tour between chapters!)
What a wonderful heart-warming story - perfect for readers of 9 and up. I fell in love with Gus and her family, the delightfully slightly grumpy Henry, the mysterious Stevie, and the Starlight Drive-in, with it's Moonbeam Cafe.
Deidre Cronk is a fabulous over-the-top villain who doesn't stand a chance against Delphine Able and her family, especially Gus, her twelve year old daughter.
Plus. It has ghosts!
Another great addition to our Usborne Snap cards.
Superheroes Snap.
Children can learn about turn-taking, rules and winning and losing while spotting pairs of quirky and original superheroes, from Underwater Boy and Green Fingers to Duplicator and Shooting Star.
Such fun!
