That includes: Aberfeldie, Airport West, Ascot Vale, Avondale Heights, Essendon, Essendon Fields, Flemington, Keilor East, Moonee Ponds, Niddrie, Strathmore and Travancore. National Volunteer Week (20 May - 26 May) is a week-long celebration of the impact of volunteer service, and the vital role they play in reinforcing the strength of our community through selfless contribution. 

We’d like to also congratulate Trang Nguyen from Avenue Productions who was nominated in the Young Volunteer category at the Volunteering Awards 2023. Out of 422 nominations received, Trang was one of 28 finalists recognised for her dedication to promoting inclusive education and diversity. ❤️👏

This year, .llen are running a Try a Trade event for all young people 14-25 years old, in or out of school to come and try out various trades. 🧑🏾‍🏭🧑‍🔧👷🏽

We’ll have many trades to choose from! Including hands-on carpentry with Harvester Technical College is uniquely placed in Melbourne’s west, a secondary college offering industry relevant, trade-based vocational pathways for years 10-12, with a focus on Building & Construction, Electotechnology, Engineering and Plumbing.

The annual Maribyrnong and Moonee Valley LLEN - mmvllen Try A Trade gives students in Melbourne’s west a chance to explore a range of trades and vocations. Providing opportunities to experiment and explore different trades can help young people feel more confident with their post-school choices.

Here’s all the info for our ‘open session’:

🏳️‍🌈 Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia & Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). It’s a day that celebrates LGBTQIA+ people globally, and raises awareness for the work still needed to combat discrimination. Today, the Rainbow flag will be flying at our Council office and sites across Moonee Valley to recognise and honour our LGBTQIA+ community members.
Valley Yout recently received our Rainbow Tick Accreditation for being a safe and affirming service and are committed to work continuously to create inclusive environments for young LGBTQIA+ folk.

The Lab program is a technology club for young people aged 10 to 17 years on the autism spectrum. The Lab offers mentoring in programming, 3D digital design and gaming, as well as the chance to meet others with similar interests.

Join for their new Young African Women's Program!

This program offers a safe space to explore:

• Leadership
• Mental and sexual health
• Wellbeing and healthy relationships
• Employment opportunities, including resume writing tips and connections with local youth mentoring career pathways programs

Over 4 weeks, their aim is to empower young African women to make informed decisions about their health, wellbeing rights and connection to community.

The program will have activities such as fitness classes with Ultimate Female Fitness, trivia with prizes, free goodies, and more! Food will also be provided.

🎨Ever wondered how a mural is created? Join artist Hoffy over three weeks to brainstorm, design and paint a brand new mural at our Youth Space in Niddrie!

We're also looking for 15 young people aged 12-25 to join this project which will begin in March. No experience is needed. 🖌 You’ll also create a unique piece of art to take home.

📅 You’ll need to be available on Thursday 14th March, Thursday 4th and Thursday 11th April from 5pm – 6pm.
