JOLT Arts and The Amplified Elephants are super proud of and excited about the release of the album, Forest of Threads.
Available in digital format on Bandcamp! Here's the link: https://amplifiedelephants.bandcamp.com/album/forest-of-threads
Forest of Threads expands The Amplified Elephants’ exploration of nature through the lens of electronic music making.
The five tracks of the album outline a mythical tale of transformation of an owl person as they inhabit and travel through four types of forest. The owl person’s experiences are not spelled out by The Elephants. Rather it is up to the listener to build the story in their mind. Each listener will create their own story – varied but somehow linked to the stories of all other listeners.
In sharing the sometimes delicate, sometimes brutal, beauty and mythological dynamism of nature with their fellow listeners, The Amplified Elephants hope that listeners might feel a greater union with nature, and therefore heed a greater calling to preserve and protect the natural world.

A SCI-FI CONTEMPORARY OPERA + ELECTRONICS
The Fission-Fusion Whale maps out a 21st-century fairy tale: three face-painted god-like interstellar explorers find one of their number swallowed within a galactic whale – or black hole.
The work pivots on the vocal performances of Justine Anderson in the role of CAPTAIN and Strange James as PILOT, supported by the supernova-sonic terrains of renowned percussionist Peter Neville – ENGINEER. Child performer, Astrid Bolcskey-Hullick, plays the role of CHILD, who transforms the minds of the explorers.
The production blends cutting-edge surround sound synthesiser technologies, percussion, prepared piano and vocals, set in a visually arresting screen-dominated stage environment. An added audiovisual dimension informs the project through the Duckworth Hullick Duo’s implementation of Jonathan Duckworth’s Resonance Table – a touchscreen audiovisual instrument. This is 21st century culture as the ultimate feast for the senses.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body. This project is supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria. Thank you to The Robert Salzer Foundation.

SUMMER DELIRIANT
Performances of sounds. Crucial elements of visuals, theatre, costumes, characters, and words.
Mainly sounds.
Approximate age range of performers throughout the 6 days over 6 venues is 20yo to 60yo if I may say so without concrete dataset.
Improvisations at high levels will come close to compositional structures. If one refines the practice for long enough on a regular basis, how spontaneous can it really be?
So many questions and not enough answers. A state of wonder, Glenn Gould has once stated. Have you heard of Glenn Gould? Very hip.
World can feel like a better place with beautiful music around. But what is music? How do we assess a thing is beautiful or not? I suspect that there is something strong in the sense of community and connectedness.
Thus we bring you the opening event of Summer Deliriant 2023 at Jolt Arts on Friday 1st of December, 2023, with the following artists.

((( SAFE IN SOUND ))) FESTIVAL
Legendary WHAT IS MUSIC? Festival organiser Robbie Avenaim returns to refresh and reshape the frontiers of Australian sound art performance with his new music festival effort: SAFE IN SOUND!
For over five years, the Safe in Sound program has made experimental music accessible to people with disability via in-home concerts. Now, several of those participant-performers are eager to share their unbridled creativity, freedom and joy with the wider world.
Across November 24–26, JOLT Arts (jolted.art) Northcote will host three days of truly liberated sonic generation, featuring these relatively new improvisers paired with some of Australia’s greatest musical explorers – as well as divergent dancers, iconoclastic kids and other uniquely skilled audial creators with disability from throughout the local community.

Rock instruments, wearable sound devices and more are all blended to find new sonic terrains.
