🌟 At just 15, Neave O’Reilly boldly began her nursing journey with a school-based trainee programme. Neave's TAFE NSW head teacher quickly recognised her potential and encouraged her to compete in the WorldSkills Australia Regional competition, a pivotal moment in her career.

Now, Neave expertly balances full-time work and ongoing training, continually enhancing her skills and deepening her understanding of nursing.

As she gears up for Lyon 2024, she’s thrilled to showcase her talents on the global stage. Let’s cheer her on! 🌍

Sari Conte, our Skillaroo for Fashion Technology, shared her incredible experience in Guangzhou. Upon arrival, she was surprised by a project change and faced modules that may potentially be similar in Lyon.

Despite the challenges, Sari excelled in three modules, learning valuable techniques from competitors. The final 12-hour module was intense, requiring her to pattern and produce two couture garments. Despite setbacks, Sari’s problem-solving skills shone through, earning high praise for her design. This unexpected challenge pushed her beyond her limits, proving her resilience and talent.

A special thank you to Sari’s Expert, Donna Kirby-Drain, for supporting her training journey.

Last night’s formal dinner at the Adelaide Oval was a resounding success!

The event was MC'd by Peter Treseder, Education Manager at AustralianSuper. We commenced with a Welcome to Country by Cliffy Wilson and a keynote address from Trevor Schwenke, CEO of WorldSkills Australia and Cameron Baker, South Australian Skills Commissioner..

We were honored to have Minister Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Education, Training & Skills, in attendance. He presented Harry Baker with his official Apprenticeship Completion Certificate.

Guests were entertained by two inspiring keynote speeches. Chris Blowes shared his remarkable story of resilience, determination and personal growth. Anton Andreacchio then captivated us with his insights on applying VR to AFL training.

The evening was filled with excellent food and networking opportunities. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the event. We also appreciate the support of the Government of South Australia, the South Australian Skills Commission, and our event sponsors for their role in empowering skills excellence.

Ashley Schmidt, a past competitor and current international bakery Skills Manager, spoke about WorldSkills' impact on his career and mentorship. We appreciate their contributions and extend our support to Elliana for the upcoming international competition.

A special thank you to Sharon Smith, the CEO of ZEAL Space futures for sponsoring our panel.
