National NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The First Nations culture is the oldest, continuous living culture on earth.
The 2024 theme is âKEEP THE FIRE BURNING! BLAK, LOUD AND PROUDâ. This theme echoes the enduring flame of First Nations cultures, shining brightly through adversity and celebrating the richness of First Nations heritage.
The fire represents the cultural heritage and deep connection to Countryâalive, warm, and vital.âBlak,â a reclaimed spelling of Black, emphasises pride in First Nations identity.âLoud and Proudâ calls for the celebration of First Nations culture openly and unapologetically.
