While the final series of events at Mt Buller could not be held, the Australian New Zealand Cup was decided by a series of competitions in Perisher where Australia's up-and-comers went into battle a number of leading Japanese skiers, coming away with some strong results.

⛰️ The lifts were on a wind hold at Blue Cow today but that didn't slow down more than 500 cross country competitors taking part in the 2024 Subaru Australian Interschools Snowports Championships.

🦺 Less than half an hour after Sean'Hope "Seanie" Craig wound up her Interschools journey in her final Division 1 race, she donned a high-vis vest and was down assisting the cross country officials at Blue Cow to get the following relay events underway.

📍 Tumbi Umbi and Wangaratta aren't exactly the snowsports capitals of Australia, however silverware are headed back to the two towns as some of the lesser-known schools stood up to be counted at Perisher.

❄️ Interschools has long been a breeding ground athletes to move into their senior careers and that was certainly evident when the Snowboard Cross Division 1 athletes took to the course at the Subaru Australian Snowsports Championships at Perisher today.

🥇🥈🥉The podiums were filled with athletes embarking on their senior careers including some already in the Snow Australia pathway via the Emerging Talent Program, along with some who represented Australia at the Youth Olympic Winter Games in January.

Unfortunately due on ongoing deteriorating snow conditions the Australian Junior Cross Country Championships scheduled for Falls Creek this weekend has been cancelled.

All alternative options were thoroughly canvassed by race organisers the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club in consultation with the Falls Creek Alpine Resort and Falls Creek Ski Lifts to no avail.

BNSC and the Snow Australia XC committee considered postponing the event, however, this was also ruled out.

All entry fees are to be reimbursed.

The 2024 Australian leg of the FIS ANC Alpine Series in Thredbo has been cancelled.

Unfortunately due to two weeks of unseasonably warm conditions with no freezing temperatures, snow making opportunities, and an unfavourable weather forecast over the next days it has been decided that the World Cup pitch does not have sufficient snow to host either Slalom or Giant Slalom races.

Kosciuszko Thredbo, in partnership with Thredbo Ski Racing Club and Snow Australia exhausted all opportunities on hill to offer a suitable race slope however the reduced snowpack has made relocating the race to a new slope not feasible.

❄️ It's a HUGE week of Interschools action this week with the Subaru NSW/ACT/QLD State Championships taking place at Perisher and the Mogul Ski World Victorian State Championships taking place at Mt Buller.

Competition runs through to Friday at Perisher and forward to Sunday at Buller.
