Here’s some good news from the sunshine state to brighten up your Friday. 🌞🏠

Through state and federal funding, 28,000 publicly-owned and 4000 community-owned homes will receive energy-efficient appliances and solar systems.

This progress wouldn't have been possible without the hard work and dedication of community groups, who have been pushing for action for more than two years!
This is a good start, but more is needed.

The Queensland Liberal National Party is yet to commit to 2032 and 2035 renewable targets and all eyes are on them to step up and make this happen.

From beekeepers to winemakers, workers from across Australia are calling for stronger nature laws! 📢🌿

Together, we're urging the Anthony Albanese government to pass strong Environmental Protection Agency legislation with measures to stop forest destruction and climate harm, and embed First Nations’ voices in decision-making.

🌍💪 Let's make our voices heard!

Dial up a top Labor Minister and demand a STRONG EPA today: https://acf.to/3Tpua10

Hey Anthony Albanese, nature needs you now, not the mining industry 🐨🌿

The corridors of federal parliament this week are swarming with fossil fuel executives 👎

They’ve been directed to convince Peter Dutton’s Coalition to weaken the proposed national Environment Protection Agency (EPA).

Help us send a direct message to the Albanese government that this is not the right option.

We’re calling on Labor to negotiate a deal with Greens Senator Sarah Hanson Young and Independent crossbenchers David Pocock and Lidia Thorpe to deliver a strong EPA.

A strong EPA will help crack down on corporations breaking nature laws and take the politics out of big project approvals.

Nature lovers, your voice matters.

Only one option for strong nature bills 11/09/2024

It’s so-called ‘Minerals Week’ in Parliament House, which means fossil fuel executives infiltrate the corridors in Canberra. 🙄

While groups like the Minerals Council of Australia attempt to buy influence, we do things the right way by openly campaigning for better outcomes for nature and climate. 🌏💪

Australia’s nature laws are broken, and now’s the chance to fix them. 🌿

Deforestation and native forest logging – which continue to push much-loved wildlife like the greater glider and the swift parrot closer to extinction – must be urgently addressed.

And the devastating impacts of climate change can no longer be ignored. 🔥🌡️

We welcome the constructive engagement of the Greens, Senator Pocock and Senator Thorpe, who have shown their determination to improve our national nature laws. 🌱

We call on the Albanese government to collaborate with the Greens and crossbenchers to strengthen these bills. 🤝🌍

As we enter a new parliamentary sitting week, here’s a hot tip: if you hear a politician saying nuclear is zero emissions, they're not telling the truth.

Nuclear power isn’t zero-carbon.

From mining uranium to the toxic waste it leaves behind, every step in the nuclear energy chain generates pollution and risk.

On National Threatened Species Day, we face the harsh reality: 2,245 species are on the brink of extinction. 🐨💔

This week alone, 20 more species were added to the list.

The need for a strong, transparent, and accountable national EPA has never been greater.

It's a critical step in protecting nature and safeguarding our wildlife.

💔 Can you believe what we uncovered at Red Range, NSW?

Eight MCGs worth of bushland like this is destroyed EVERY HOUR, with the biggest culprit being the production of beef sold in big supermarkets.

💪 Thanks to nature lovers like you, Woolworths recently announced plans to stop selling beef linked to deforestation. Now, it's time for Coles to join the movement.

Let's keep the pressure on Coles to stop profiting off nature destruction.

‘A symbol of our nation’: waratah among 20 more species added to Australia’s threatened wildlife list 04/09/2024

Another devastating blow to nature! 🌏💔

Two lizards, a sea snake, a fish, a crayfish, and 15 plant species, including the Gibraltar Range Waratah, have just been added to Australia’s threatened wildlife list.

These shameful new listings bring the number of endangered plants, animals and ecosystems to 2,245.

For a country that prides itself on its natural wonders, this is nothing short of obscene.
Every day and every decision counts. Strong nature laws in Australia are vital to protect our precious animals and plants.

But they have been delayed, risking pushing more species to extinction. 🦎🐍🐠🌿

We found the nature destruction supermarkets don’t want you to know about 02/09/2024

🚨 ACF’s investigators have uncovered a gut-wrenching truth about deforestation in Australia.

In just four years, 50 beef properties destroyed 16,000 hectares of precious bushland, home to koalas, cassowaries, pink cockatoos, northern quolls, greater gliders and regent honeyeaters.

A day after we exposed this, Woolworths announced it would stop selling deforestation-linked beef by 2025.

Learn more:

We found the nature destruction supermarkets don’t want you to know about From the air, the contrast is clear to see. Beautiful bush, thriving gum trees and striking rocky outcrops, an area known to be the home and feeding ground of threatened species including spotted-tailed quolls, brush-tailed rock wallabies and greater gliders. But what really hits you is the freshly....

Rocket-launching facility could blast Eyre Peninsular Southern emu-wren into extinction 01/09/2024

Is this the final countdown for the Eyre Peninsula Southern Emu-wren?

It's estimated just 750 individual wrens are left and their Whalers Way sanctuary is at risk from a proposed rocket launching facility.

Read the full story here:

Rocket-launching facility could blast Eyre Peninsular Southern emu-wren into extinction In an area designated as “habitat critical to survival” for species like the Emu-wren, Southern Launch want to build launch pads, blast walls and bunkers to fire rockets into space. 💔 Immerse yourself in one of the examples of habitat destruction that we recently exposed as part of a major deforestation investigation.

Every hour in Australia, eight MCGs worth of bushland like this is destroyed, leaving wildlife like koalas, quolls, and pink cockatoos homeless 🐨🌱

The single biggest culprit? Beef production.

And no one sells more beef to Australian consumers than Coles and Woolworths.

Woolies has finally committed to stop selling beef linked to deforestation by the end of 2025, but Coles is continuing to turn a blind eye to nature destruction linked to its supply chains.

🚫 This is unacceptable. Coles must do better.

If they don’t, we risk losing our precious wildlife forever.

What you’re witnessing is deforestation in Australia from a satellite view.

And it’s tough to stomach, watching the homes of our precious wildlife being cleared at extraordinary rates.

Sadly, the destruction of critical habitat for species like the koala and greater glider is all too common.

The leading cause of deforestation is beef and it often winds up in our supermarket fridges.

But our campaign is having an impact.

Today, Woolworths committed to stop selling beef linked to deforestation.

Coles, it’s your move. We need both the big supermarkets to keep their supply chains free of deforestation.

Help us hold them accountable: https://acf.to/3VSZ4zC

28/08/2024

🌟 Fantastic news! Woolworths has committed to ending the sale of beef linked to deforestation 🌿

This is a win for consumers, farmers, and our environment.

Soon, Australians will be able to enjoy beef knowing they're supporting farmers who protect our precious forests and woodlands 🌳🥩

Healthy food systems depend on a healthy natural world 🌏

Now we’re looking to Coles to step up to the plate. A deforestation-free beef industry is within reach, but we need every major player on board.

27/08/2024

🚨EXPOSED: Coles and Woolworths don’t want you to see this.

It’s tough to stomach seeing fields of lush bush and native species habitat plowed to bare earth.

Today, we’ve exposed 50 cases of deforestation linked to the beef industry and we’re calling on the big two supermarkets to stop this destruction in their supply chains 🌳💔

Deforestation has no place on our dinner tables.

🗣️You can help us hold Coles, and Woolworths, accountable.

Join us in urging them to stop bulldozing the nature we love.

From beautiful bushlands to thriving gum trees and striking rocky outcrops—our latest report reveals 50 shocking cases of deforestation linked to the Australian beef industry.

Coles and Woolworths don’t want you to know they’ve failed to commit to eliminating deforestation from their supply chains.

Read more:

16,000 hectares of forests found flattened on beef farms and 'people don't even know it's happening' European supermarkets won't buy beef from Brazil due to concerns about land clearing in the Amazon. Now conservationists are urging Coles and Woolworths to follow suit to combat deforestation in Australia.
