** CANCELLATION OF MOOMBA PARADE **
Kia ora everyone,
City of Melbourne has made the decision to cancel the Moomba Parade event on Monday due to the Extreme Heatwave weather warning issued for this long weekend. We are sorry that the amazing performance that we've worked so hard to rehearse over the last few months won't receive an audience but we support the decision to cancel the event for the health and safety of everyone.
We thank you - the community - for your support and also your commitment in joining us this year and we hope that come 2025, you are ready to put on your walking/dancing shoes and join us. This is a community program we run every year for those who want to represent their cultures at Moomba.
Thank you to our creatives Sikivi Tafea, Christian Gilbert, Asalemo Tofete and Lavinia Enosa for leading our rehearsals, coming up with our set and teaching it to everyone. Also to our wonderful parents who came with the kids and joined along, as well as our youth! We will be in touch later on in the year for Moomba 2025.
We do have our next PICAA program - Pasefika Theatre Festival - with shows taking place in St Albans in late May. Please follow our social media pages for updates. Thank you once again everyone, and please stay cool and safe during this long and hot weekend.
Vinaka from Team PICAA Inc.
