PARTICIPANTS NEEDED
Research Project - Toward data justice in Australian schools

We are researchers from Deakin University conducting a research project on the
datafication of Australian secondary schools. We are looking to hear from school staff working in government schools how they use digital data, what they think of the data and software they work with, but also how they manage students’ digital privacy.

If you work in a Victorian high school as a teacher or librarian, we invite you to participate in a 40–60-minute interview. The interviews may be conducted over the phone or on Zoom. If you are interested, we will email you a Plain Language Statement with more information about the project.

If you want to participate in this study, or if you have any questions, please contact Dr Chris Zomer ([email protected]).

Best wishes,

A National Treasure: the Life and Achievements of Larry Sitsky AO
by Jeanell Carrigan AM and Rita Crews OAM

This new publication will be launched on 26th August in Canberra at the ANU as part of Larry Sitsky's 90th birthday celebrations.

Not just a biography, this book traces the family history from Sitsky's childhood in China, the family's emigration to Australia, his studies at the NSW Conservatorium, the inspiration for his many works and his teaching at the Canberra School of Music, ANU of which he was a foundation member. With definite political and community views and often a controversial and outspoken figure, Larry Sitsky is one of the pre-eminent composers and performers in this country and his influence on later students and teachers has been nothing less than profound.

Sheet music may look complicated, but once you've gotten the hang of a few simple elements like notes, bars and clefs, you're ready to rock. Tim Hansen hits the instrumental ...

We might be a little biased, but there’s a special dynamic that exists when you’re a music teacher, which is even more magic in 1:1 settings where we can engage with our students as fellow musicians. 💙
