Distinguished Professor Suresh Bhargava is the Founding Director of the Centre for Advanced Materials and Industrial Chemistry at and has devoted his career to strengthening ties between India and Australia through Science and Technology. Starting as a journalist and Hindi radio announcer for SBS, he has always sought bridge the gap between the two countries and how both Australia and India can uplift and empower each other in unity. He is actively engaged in social activities with the Indian-Australian community with a passion for Hindi arts.

As a strong advocate of women in STEMM, Professor Bhargava was nominated by the Australian Academy of Science to promote and develop new guidelines at a high-level policy making tri-national (Australia-India-United Kingdom) workshop held in India in 2016. His recommendation to develop a policy on increasing female participation in corporate boards has been accepted by the Commonwealth. He is excited to see the rapid growth, change, and independence of Indian women and how much impact they are having today and is keen to celebrate all their successes.
