In a few weeks time I will be introducing a bill to exempt people in NSW of the Sikh faith who wear a turban from wearing helmets on motorbikes, e-scooters, and bicycles.
Turbans are an incredibly important part of Sikh identity. The turban symbolises spirituality, holiness, honour and self-respect. Both men and women may wear them.
Other jurisdictions, including Canada, UK and NZ have already passed similar exemptions. Let’s get behind it too 🚲
