It's been a big few months out in the Peninsula Waves community. Working with coaches and players to develop their skills and learning new team strategies. We've had Melbourne V***n, Mwayi Kumwenda sharing her knowledge with our young netballers in specialised goaling clinics and small group sessions. We've also had Coach Charlotte running All Abilities sessions here at Jubilee Park Stadium. Thanks to all the clubs and schools that have welcomed us to their sessions!

Engaging in sports and maintaining an active lifestyle is essential for children's physical and mental health.

It not only supports healthy growth and development but also fosters vital social skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership 🙏

However, despite our encouragement for children to stay active, sports-related injuries are a reality 👎

Children who engage intensively in one or multiple sports face a higher risk of injuries due to increased training volumes 📈

Additionally, as children grow, the nature of their injuries can differ significantly from those adults typically experience.

For instance, in netball, young players often suffer from specific injuries related to the high-impact and dynamic nature of the sport, such as ankle sprains, knee injuries, and finger fractures 🏐

Thank you for getting involved in our fundraising and helping BCNA to inform, support, connect and represent all Australians affected by breast cancer.

Have you ever been told to “R.I.C.E it” after you’ve been injured? What about the importance of doing no H.A.R.M?

R.I.C.E or R.I.C.E.R and H.A.R.M are handy acronyms used to assist in initial management of musculoskeletal injuries. In the first 48 hours always use the RICER techniques, and never HARM the injury.

This technique of managing any soft tissue injury is internationally recognised, and provides a simple and easy to remember formula for treating all soft tissue injuries.

Referral in the very early stages is vital as the appropriate sports medicine doctor or physiotherapist can ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

🩷 Starting tomorrow, Wednesday 1st May,  FDNA and with the support of the Frankston Sporting Community will be holding a month-long event for BCNA Pink May. 🩷
 
Honouring the late Peta Murphy MP, who was a passionate, courageous supporter of the Frankston sporting community, advocating for inclusion of everyone across all sporting codes, sadly lost her battle to Breast Cancer late last year.
 
To keep her legacy alive and support her number one charity, FDNA and Waves will be fundraising across the entire month of May. With the support of our other sporting codes, and will also be fundraising for BCNA Pink May. We are combining our love of Peta and sport, to come together to fundraise for such a worthy charity. Keep an eye out on their socials to see their events too.
 
FDNA will have their annual Pink Round, Saturday 11th May.  Where we ask all players, coaches, staff, scorers, family and friends to wear a touch of pink and donate what you can.
 
We also will be running our hugely successful raffle with over 10 hampers to be won, generously donated by all our FDNA Netball Clubs, our hilariously fun Mother’s Day Game and our Mother’s Day High Tea. At 10am on Saturday 11th May, FDNA will be hosting a Mother’s Day High Tea, where everyone is welcome to purchase a ticket and come along and hear from some of our amazing guest speakers.
 
We are also introducing this year the sale of Pink Day beanies. These are available for pre-purchase now and can be picked up from the Competitions window on Saturday 11thMay.  Stock is limited on these so get in quick if would like to get your hands on our hot pink beanies.
