WCC Player Announcement!
The Warrandyte Cricket Club is thrilled to announce that Ayrton Dehmel will be rejoining the Club for season 2024/25!
Ayrton, a previous 1st XI club captain, multiple award winner and long time member of the club, will be taking on the vice captain role supporting newly signed 1XI skipper Ben Davies.
As a club, we couldnât be more excited to have AJ and Philippa back at the club, and working with him to achieve more highlights over the next few years.
Please join us in welcoming them.
Warrandyte Cricket Club 1st XI Captain 2024/25
The Warrandyte Cricket Club is pleased to announce, Ben Davies as our 1st XI Captain for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
Our Club had a challenging season last year, both on and off the field, but our foundation is very strong. In the seasons ahead we are looking to build on our strong foundation and set the standard for the years to come.
For the upcoming season we were pleased to have had several candidates nominate to lead our 1st XI. The selection process was thorough, with each candidate asked to submit a written Expression of Interest and undertake an interview with a panel consisting of Chair of Selectors, Committee member and two coaches.
The objective was to appoint a 1st XI Captain to lead our playing group through the next stage of our Club development.
All candidates made a considerable effort with their applications and interviews, and all presented themselves admirably. We thank each of them for their desire to lead our Club and we are proud to have a number of worthy leaders within the Warrandyte Cricket Club.
Critically, the selection criteria focused on appointing a candidate who encompasses the Clubâs values, buys into the Clubâs vision and is committed to develop and take the playing group to the next level.
From the above process, Ben Davies has been selected to Captain the 1st XI next season, and lead our playing group into the future.
We understand that this will not be without challenges. Ben is young and he is the Coachâs son, which both could be viewed as barriers. However, Ben is an outstanding young man, who has already displayed leadership capability and conducts himself professionally. We are confident that Ben will thrive and grow in the role.
Ben will be supported by Ben Taylor, Luke Killey and Brady Poole who have a wealth of 1st XI experience and are committed to taking the Club to the next level.
Ben Taylor has put in an extensive amount of hard work as 1st XI Captain over the last three seasons, and the Club would like to thank BT for his efforts and the way he represents the Warrandyte Cricket Club. Ben is one of the most loved and respected figures at the Club and has done some great work with the playing group over his many years at the Club; particularly under very difficult circumstances last season.
Please join with us in wishing Ben Davies every success in his new role.
