Our Story
AMSSA Youth Connect (AYC) is
based in AMSSA Centre in the inner city suburbs
of #Melbourne, #Australia. The primary aim of this
organisation is to connect the #youth to the #masjid
and ultimately the #Qur'an and #Sunnah as well as to
bridge the inter-generational gap driving a wedge
between #Muslim #youth (IN particular #Somalis) and
their parents.
AYC was established in June of 2018 with
a youth #Ramadan #Soccer #Tournament funded
by various organisations within the #Somali
#community. It was an entertaining, competitive
and fast-paced tournament that with the Mercy
of #Allah SWT brought together both young and
old. Driven by the #success of this tournament, our
organisation grew and our #goals to establishing
our ultimate #vision slowly materialised into reality.
With the incredible #support of our mothers, elders and volunteers whose hard work and dedication remains unparalleled, we initiated holiday programs which included #drug #awareness talks, inspirational #Halaqat and recreational activities such as #paintballing, #basketball matches, #BBQ s and Kids Fun Days.
2019 is all about consistency, adhering to the Qur'an and Sunnah always and taking heed of the wisdom and advise of our elders. In order to actualise our vision, we've started running more regular activities. The Saturday night sisters' halaqas have been very beneficial, attracting quite a diverse audience, Alhamdulilah. Madrasas and weekly brothers' Imaan and Ilm-boosters will soon be underway. Classes on Aqeedah and Fiqh, workshops and recreational activities for all will also commence soon, so stay posted. May Allah SWT make them successful and beneficial. Ameen.
