Today, we celebrate a Major Tribunal Win in Australian Citizenship Case!

Our firm undertook a challenging Australian Citizenship refusal appeal to the Tribunal. The original citizenship application had been applied for by our client back in 2015 and was refused due to identity and character issues. These issues are typically difficult to overcome due to the high standards set by citizenship laws.

We represented our client in the general division of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Minister was represented by their lawyers. In the departmental decision the delegate was not convinced of our client’s identity and believed he was not of good character due to the provision of false information in previous interactions.

After two arduous AAT hearing sessions, our submissions and legal arguments overcame the challenges presented in this case and we ultimately received a favourable decision from the Tribunal which ruled that it was satisfied with our client’s identity and character. After waiting for almost a decade, our client is now one step closer to achieving his Australian citizenship dream.

The recent changes that have been announced as a part of the government’s Migration Strategy will significantly impact the Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa program and these changes are expected to come into effect as of 1 July 2024. As such, international higher education graduates will need to reexamine their eligibility for the replacement streams.

New permanent residency pathways for subclass 457 and short-term stream subclass 482 visa holders

From 1 July 2022, laws were changed to allow certain subclass 457 and subclass 482 visa holders, who were not previously eligible to do so, to apply for an Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186) visa through the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream.

Australia international borders update - Amity Lawyers The Federal government have announced a new Australia international borders update for visa holders among 28 categories from 1 December 2021.

If you have applied for your first Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) under the Fast-Track Assessment process and have not yet been interviewed about your application, please be aware that the Department of Home Affairs will likely invite you to participate in an interview by 30 June 2021. You must attend this interview because it could be your only opportunity to explain your protection claims to a Department official. For more information about please follow the link below.
