The biggest congratulations to our studio prize winner for his awesome achievement over the past 8 weeks!

As a Brunswick foundation member, Nick has come leaps and bounds in his years with us, and culminating in some fantastic results in this challenge:

Not only this- Nick upholds the values of a BFT Brunswick member through and through.

1. Wow! The man himself 😎 how'd you find your way into the Brunswick team?

I was coming from Brisbane, testing between F45 and BFT. I went to Footscray BFT, and they recommended Brunswick. I walked in, Davey and Kathryn were very welcoming and professional. I am glad they chose me.

2. What do you love most about coaching?

I love sharing what I've learnt with others. It makes what I do meaningful, and it makes me happy to see the impact I have on the community.

3. Speed round- you ready?

Fave music genre: Disco Funk
Fave BFT session to train: Cardio HIIT/Shred

COACH CORNER: LIV

1. First things first: not only are you a coach, but you're also a semi pro birthday cake baker! What else do you do when you're not here at the studio?

Haha cake baking has become a bit of a calling card for me with my friends and family—who doesn’t love birthday cake?

Cake aside, most who know me would ask a slightly different question: “what don’t I do?” 🤣 I’ve got another side hustle, I work full time in comms/media advising, I love to hike/train/see friends/ski/cook/do DIY projects/play music (I was a classical musician in a former life).

2.⁠ ⁠What made you decide to join the team alongside your fulltime career?

I used to be a ski instructor and also taught group fitness (F45, Body Pump and spin) whilst I was doing my Masters. Once I’d settled into a full time role back here in Melbourne, I realised that I missed coaching and connecting with people through exercise. I’d been a BFT Brunswick member for a while and knew Head Coach, Davey, was headed off on an extended holiday last year. I thought the team might need an extra set of coaching hands during this time so offered to jump in and well, the rest is history! I love our BFT Brunswick team.

3.⁠ ⁠What is your biggest strength that you bring to coaching sessions? What makes you tick as a coach?

I think my biggest strength is helping people connect with their why; what gets them to the gym each week or what helps them reach their goals. When we understand why we’re doing something, it makes the process so much more enjoyable and makes us more likely to achieve our goals!

COACH CORNER: EDGE

1. First things first. Where did your love for Arsenal FC start?

When I was very young. At the time they were going though what is now known as an Invincible season, they went the entire season without losing a single game in the English Premier League (hasn’t been done since). To top it off, the team’s striker was a phenom by the name Thierry Henry who was basically the Michael Jordan of football at the time. He made watching football fun and also inspired me to play!

2. What do you love most about coaching at BFT Brunswick?

I get told quite frequently that I’m the best DJ in the house (fight me Mario) so I’m constantly vibing out to my playlists with the members and having a good time. It’s a pretty awesome job, can’t complain.

Mainly though, it’s the community. There are a lot of things that I could mention but overall, I’ve developed a lot of great friendships with the members and I look forward to coming to work and seeing everyone… even at 5am.

3. AND you're a qualified nutritionist! What made you decide to study nutrition?

When I was about 18-19 years old I saw my older brother go through a drastic lifestyle change by following a diet, I watched him go from pre-diabetic to a healthy weight within a few months. Aside from losing the weight, the process helped him sort out other aspects of his life and I found that fascinating.

That inspired me to learn about nutrition and fitness, which eventually led me here. The topic still inspires me to learn and develop so I’m very happy I’m on this path 😊

Fave BFT session to train? Shred or Strength Endurance
Fave food? Slow cooked beef brisket
Fave football (soccer) player? I’ll pick an active player and go with Bukayo Saka
Fave colour? Red

5. Lastly, when you're not holding down the fort at Brunswick, what do you like to do in your free time?

I’m home mostly. I’m a simple creature, I’m happiest when I’m lifting weights or playing video games. You’ll often find me chilling w/ my girlfriend and our dog Luna- we love a good nature walk/hike!

1️⃣ How did you end up at BFT Brunswick?

I was looking to expand & add another fitness job onto my plate. Fitness is such a big part of my life & career. I applied online hoping for the best, got the call & the rest is history😍

2️⃣ You’ve got a pretty impressive resume. World champion salsa dancer. 🔥Years of group fitness experience. What do you love most?

Yes, I am a 10 times world salsa champion🕺🏻Sometimes I forget all of the things I have achieved, part of me always wants to stay humble, but I think it is really important to remind yourself of all your achievements and success. Sometimes as dancers we are always looking for the next thing & tend to not be present or savour the moments you’re in. I am so grateful for dance & how it has shaped my life. Salsa has given me the chance to travel, connect, inspire & create a life that I dream of 🤩

In all honesty, I love connecting & helping humans. Both in dance teaching & fitness. If I feel like I can help you achieve your goals, then I’m there with you! That to me is why I love to push myself to be the best teacher, instructor & mentor for my clients🥰

COACH CORNER: BEC

💪 Welcome to the BFT crew! You've been with us for a few months now - what do you love most about coaching here?

I love the vibes. Everyone is so friendly and always up for a chat.

I also really enjoy seeing each member taking their fitness and strength training so seriously. Every single person is happy to receive feedback, tips, and cues whilst training. That can be really hard to find in some gyms.

💪 That's awesome to hear! What is your background in the fitness industry?

I started off like everyone else, where I had my own fitness journey and completed some bikini body work. From there, I did my Cert 4 in Fitness and
started my own mobile PT business in 2019.

I'm a registered NDIS provider and train my own clients. I've done quite a lot of continued education in areas I am most interested in, such as rehab, pre/post natal, disability, and strength and conditioning.
I love to learn, so I have quite a bit of continued education under my belt 🙃

💪When you're off the clock, what do you like to do in your free time?

Mainly sleeping first, as I'm up early and struggle to get to bed early. Otherwise, I'm hanging out with my 10 year old daughter or my dog Oreo and going out on adventures!

💪 OK, now a speed round. What is your favorite:

🍝 Food: Good Question! I LOVE food, so it's hard to choose.However, if I have to pick something I'd say in Poland at my partners Mums house, she makes the best gluten free Pierogi 😋

🎵 Music Genre: Okay, don't laugh but I don't have one, and I know that's weird, stop laughing!
However what I will say, if I am coaching or working out, I have to be able to sing it and know the words, so the 90's is always my go-to 🙃

🐱 Animal: I'm fascinated by Cats and their ability to be so majestic yet strong (and sassy like my cat Joey).

🏀 Sport: I grew up playing netball and tennis, so they are my top picks for sure.

5. Ooft! They all sound great 🙌 who's your favorite coach?
I love all the coaches here, they all have amazing qualities and I learn so much from each of them. But I guess I have to say Davey- he is the boss. And he pays me 🤣
