Working for an Australia where education gives every child greater choice for their future.
We believe in equity in education – an Australia where your postcode does not determine your future potential, the opportunities available to you in life, or your ability to contribute to society. That's why our vision is of an Australia where education gives every child, regardless of background, greater choice for their future.
🔄 In a full circle moment, Rayanne Chebbou has gone from being taught by TFA teachers in high school to becoming one herself.
She is committed to creating a safe and supportive space for her students – and strives to embody the approachability and willingness to help that she admired in her own TFA teachers.
You might recognise TFA teacher Dev Tiwari – he joined us to celebrate our 15th anniversary at Parliament House in Canberra recently.
Teach For Australia was established 15 years ago to help tackle educational inequity – and Dev’s dedication to this mission was influenced by his own educational experiences.
Fast forward to today, and Dev is an award-winning teacher who has contributed to improving students’ writing self-efficacy by 80% and grades by 60% ✍️
Amy Blitvich worked in industrial relations before she felt the pull of her family legacy – both her parents and her grandmother were teachers.
She says Teach For Australia’s program prepared her for her career in education in a way that traditional pathways do not.
Being a teacher allows her to make a tangible impact on her students – and if she has made it better for at least one child, she considers her job well done.
“It’s all about that ‘oh I finally get it’ moment, making students feel more comfortable doing their revision by having access to resources that support them to complete year 11 and 12. My hope – and I think this is the hope of every teacher – is that students leave school ready to enter the workforce in whatever capacity they choose, whether that’s as a doctor, teacher, plumber, hairdresser, or even a farmer. Whatever it is, I hope they have the opportunity to study those subjects and have the support to achieve their chosen path – whatever that path may be.” Louise Hobbs, TFA Alum.
We’re thrilled to celebrate three of our outstanding Alumni who have been honoured with the prestigious Commonwealth Bank Teach Awards in the Early Career Teaching Category.
George Allen, Head of Science and High Abilities Co-Ordinator at Cobram Secondary College, Victoria. Louise Hobbs, Agriculture and Business Management Teacher at Goroke P-12 College, Victoria. Dev Tiwari, Assistant Principal of Katherine High School, Northern Territory. These awards run in partnership with Schools Plus supported by Salesforce, recognise 10 teachers for their remarkable leadership and innovation in their first five years in the profession. Congratulations – your dedication and passion are truly inspiring!
From being taught by TFA teachers all throughout high school, to becoming a teacher inspiring the next generation herself, Rayanne Chebbou (Cohort 2021) shares why choosing to join TFA was a "no brainer" for her.
We’re strengthening the leadership pipeline in regional and remote schools.
As our latest report card shows – these school leaders share our vision of educational equity.
We're incredibly proud of students like Taylar from Cobram Secondary College, who aspire to great heights and embody the future of our nation. Hear what she has to say about her TFA teachers—Dave Kelly, George Allen and Lucia Sergent.
Highlights from our 15th anniversary celebration in Canberra! A special thank you to Luke Gosling MP Assistant Minister for Education, Senator the Hon. Senator Anthony Chisholm Shadow Minister for Education, Senator the Hon. Senator Sarah Henderson and partner school principal Emma Walker for your kind words!
After 15 years of impact, the results are in.
Our latest report card is here 📝
Last week, we took a delegation of our dedicated teachers, inspiring leaders, and two enthusiastic students from a partner school to Parliament House in Canberra in honour of our 15th anniversary.
Over two days, our delegation met with a number of supportive MPs, senators, and ministers from right across the political spectrum, including Jason Clare MP, the Minister for Education.
As Dev Tiwari, Assistant Principal at Katherine High School & TFA Alum (Cohort 2020), eloquently said: “Teach For Australia cultivates the moral purpose and an unrelenting focus on the belief that any student can achieve - you should never underestimate what a year seven student can put on paper. Katherine High School is a testament to this. TFA has been the engine room of transformation at the school, lowering suspension numbers and supporting more young people in class. We're now on path to have our largest ever graduating cohort of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.”
We're indebted to all our teachers, leaders, and partner schools who have been a part of this journey – TFA Alumni, Dev Tiwari, Lachlan Yeates Kvitka Becker Rayanne Chebbou Amy Blitvich, Will Lutwyche, Dan Carr, Ben Duggan, Amy Haywood, TFA Associate, Damien Viney and TFA partner school principal, Emma Walker from Lynwood Senior High School. The dedication and passion of our teachers and partner schools are the driving force behind our success and this delegation is just the tip of the iceberg. A special shout out to year 11 students, Angus and Taylar who are taught by a number of TFA Alumni at one of our long-term partner schools, Cobram Secondary College.
Here’s to many more years of making an impact for educational equity!

Jonelle is one of our Teaching and Leadership Coaches providing one-on-one coaching and support to program participants. This includes English teacher Oliver, who was searching for ways to connect to his new community and his new role teaching English in East Arnhem Land.
“In our coaching conversations we spoke a lot about values and strengths, and the pockets of hope. That even the smallest actions in the classroom can merely be seeds that are planted for young people that we might not see grow until much later,” Jonelle said.
With the support of Jonelle's coaching, Oliver has built trust and incorporated his passion for English writing into his lessons. Read the full article at https://bit.ly/4bHJz3k

About Teach For Australia
As it stands, not every child in Australia has access to the education they deserve: children from the lowest income households are on average three years behind in school. Teach For Australia seeks to break the cycle of educational inequity, to level the playing field for young people across Australia by recruiting and developing leaders in education.
We recruit Australia’s future leaders into the classroom and inspire, connect and empower them to a lifetime of action towards educational equity.
Our teachers, known as Associates, and program Alumni make up a passionate community that is dedicated to the idea that every child has a right to an excellent education. Partnering exclusively with schools serving low socioeconomic communities, we work in the regions and communities that need the most support.
As a collective force - as educators, advocates, entrepreneurs, policymakers and community members working together - we strive for the aspirations of students and families. We work together towards equity in education through two key levers that research shows impact student outcomes: teacher quality and leadership.
