Rattle Ya’ Bones Day is a National Day of Awareness for all muscle, bone and joint conditions. It’s held every year on Halloween (31 October).
Also known as musculoskeletal conditions, these conditions are often downplayed as “normal wear and tear”, “just aches and pains” or “part of getting older”.
But they’re much more than that!
These conditions can cause chronic, often debilitating pain, fatigue, and reduced mobility, not to mention sleep deprivation, time off work, loss of employment and financial pressures. All of which can significantly affect a person’s emotional and mental well-being.
Staggeringly, 7 million Australians live with conditions like arthritis, back pain, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and over 150 other musculoskeletal conditions. And, because there are often few visible signs of the pain and suffering caused by musculoskeletal conditions, most people are unaware of the enormous impact they can have.
Many people have told us they feel invisible. That’s why we created Rattle Ya’ Bones Day. We want to bring awareness to these invisible conditions so that those who have them are seen and their pain understood.
Lower limb activation simply means engaging the major muscle groups of your body. When done correctly based on advice from a health practitioner such as a podiatrist, or exercise physiologist, which helps to enhance overall athletic performance and support mobility in your daily life. A strong lower body will also help to prevent injury and manage chronic conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes.
Age shouldn't be a factor in staying active.

INDEFINITELY.
Custom Orthotics are like prescription glasses and are meant to be worn indefinitely. Prescription glasses change the shape of light to allow one to see better. Orthotics change the way ground reactive forces hit the feet to allow one to walk better. They work to support certain muscles and ligaments, targeting specific pressure points so that there is no excess strain on the feet. Custom orthotics work well to assist in posture and gait corrections. It's crucial to know wearing the wrong orthotics might do more harm than good.
To find out more about custom orthotics, talk to one of our Podiatrists today.
