In 2020, I opened Palinopsia’s first-ever pop-up store on Newcastle’s iconic Hunter Street. The setup was modest: ceramics on trestle tables and me, hoping for the best. Among the early visitors was Lukas Thodas, a familiar face in the city’s hospitality scene and then-manager of The Lucky Hotel, just a few doors down from us.
At the time, Lukas was on the brink of his own ‘pop-up’ moment, preparing to take his first step as an owner-operator by bringing new life to another local icon, The Grand Hotel—a historic 1890s pub with deep roots in the community. Neither of us could have predicted that our paths would cross again four years later in a culinary collaboration that perfectly blends our shared love for tradition and community.

In this shot, we capture the magic of slipcasting—where different liquid clay slips are carefully hand-poured into a plaster mould, one at a time. As these colours merge and intertwine, they naturally form patterns that echo the rhythm of nature. Each swirl and vein reflects the flow that shapes our world—a beautiful metaphor for the eternal cycles of creation, destruction, and transformation. This is the essence of our Marble Jupiter collection: a celebration of the unity that binds us all. Think back to where you’ve seen these patterns before—what did you feel in that moment? If you scroll across you will see some inspiration.
Let these pieces remind you of the profound connections we share with the world around us.
NEW DROP: Our Marble Jupiter collection is a tribute to the beauty and complexity of nature. Each piece, crafted from a blend of black, red, sandstone, and white clays, showcases a unique marbling effect reminiscent of the intricate patterns found in nature —from the fractal patterns in the clay of ancient riverbeds, to the vast expanses of landscapes seen from above, and extending to the swirling majesty of celestial bodies like Jupiter. As you use these handcrafted stoneware items, you are reminded of your place in an endless, harmonious cycle that spans the earth and the stars.
As one of our customers perfectly put it today, ‘A good gift should hurt to give away’—meaning it’s so good, you’d rather keep it for yourself. Shout out to the customer who reminded us how true this conundrum is! I’d say I’ve never kept a gift meant for someone else, but that would definitely be a lie! 😂

Every family has its quirks – the little ceremonies, habits and oddities are where the ‘us’ is. Mealtimes are meaningful; when grub’s up, it’s time to connect, to grow, to experience. To serve is to love. To nourish is to love. To be patient and gentle is to love. To be present is to love. We are immensely honoured to play a small part in these mealtime rituals through dinnerware that we shaped with patience, gentleness, service and love 🍝🥗🍵❤️
Meet our Master Jigger Kuntida 🍶
Kuntida is the heart and hands behind our beautiful salad bowls, planters, cups, and serving platters from North East Thailand. If it’s round, it’s been lovingly crafted by her.
Here she is at the jigger - a unique type of pottery wheel that holds a plaster mould and a profile tool. Kuntida meticulously compresses the clay into the mould, shaping it with both the profile tool and her own expert touch. She finishes each piece by smoothing it with a sponge and water.
If you have one of our salad bowls, breakfast bowls, platters or sip from our cups, we hope these photos deepen the connection between Kuntida’s artistry and your daily rituals. 🙏🏽
Thank you Kuntida 🪷
With gratitude and grace to the many hands that shape Palinopsia 🙏🏽 Meet Noy, who carefully loads our glazed ceramics onto the kiln shelf before they go in for their second firing. Each 12-hour transformation is accompanied by a heartfelt offering (see 3rd photo) for extra grace and less mess—our kiln is blessed! 😅❤️🌼
Quiet liberation
So nice we fired it twice! Payton mugs hot out of the kiln this week! The colours are particularly striking this round, with a higher luminosity on the soft pink and rich chocolate tones. Website restock in late July for this batch.

From Settlement to Sentiment: In the realm of corporate gifting, what gift would extend beyond settlement day?
Traditional settlement gifts like wine or food hampers, while appreciated, often lack the enduring impact needed to truly stand out. And it’s sort of expected. What’s not expected is a gift that reminds your clients of the care and thoughtfulness you’ve invested in their journey. A centrepiece that sparks conversation and brings the experience back into conversations years down the track.
We believe in gifts that resonate deeply and remain memorable long after the deal is done.

Four years ago, I met Chef Gerald Touchard through a mutual friend who saw our shared creative ambitions. Despite his busy schedule and growing family, Gerald’s generosity, warmth and honesty stood out. We collaborated on photo shoots, blending my ceramics with his culinary skills. Fast forward to today, and it’s heartwarming to see our plates look so good at what promises to be an incredible joint 40th celebration.
And I’m reminded of the traversing it took to be here today, for both of us 🧗🏼♀️ I have immense respect for his hard work, executed with kindness and thoughtfulness.
Thank you, Gerald, for being a part of our journey. If you’re in Sydney and need an exceptional chef for your event, look no further. Swipe to see his amazing work!

Love, devotion and colour in North India during Holi 🙏🏽✨🎨
As my adventure wraps up, India truly took my breath away – quite literally at 4000m above sea level! 🏔️ If you're here for ceramics, sorry for the travel takeover! 😅
Over the next few days, I'll share some unforgettable moments from my travels.
Living and exploring in the very heart of where my products and the people behind them originate has been an eye-opening journey. I've spent considerable time with the studio owners, makers, sewers, delivery drivers, and packers. From attending their family weddings, dinners at their homes, visiting their temples; to collaborating, sharing stories and culture, every encounter has deepened my connection to why I came here and what I intend to create here.
This experience isn't just about business transactions; it's about building meaningful relationships and mutual trust.
Understanding the origins of my products, and the stories of the individuals who craft them, plays an integral role in shaping my relationship with my brand, my business, and my makers.
So hope you enjoy, here is a start which is a scenic treck to Chandrashila, the Himalayas from Uttarakhand, North tip of India.
✨ Dive into the world of Block Printing, an ancient textile art as timeless as our love for decorating fibers. It stretches back thousands of years. But in the colourful tapestry of India, this art truly flourishes.
The process is a dance of technique, skill, and precision. It demands a steady hand and an eagle eye for placement. Picture this: for every 20cm x 20cm square, layers of dye are delicately applied, akin to the intricate layers of screen printing. Each block, each application, must align perfectly—like threading a needle six times over. One misstep, and the whole rhythm of the print is thrown off for that square meter.
For me, as I craft a brand where uniqueness is celebrated, this is the printing journey I've yearned for. Each piece carries its own story, its own magic.
These are just the beginning stages. Now, with my printing partner by my side, the real magic unfolds. From designing the prints to orchestrating their creation with our skilled masters, to developing the base fabrics, and then the meticulous tasks of cutting, sewing, and packaging design—there's a journey ahead, but one I've eagerly awaited. (As you can tell)
Finding courage to voluntarily choose uncertainty and the unknown in the hope to find the extraordinary; that’s the only way I can sum up this experimental collection. And if all goes well, as we start to fire the production this week, we should be launching in late June.
I am deeply grateful to collaborate with Khun Na, a master ceramist whose unwavering spirit at 80 continues to embrace every idea I present with a resounding "Yes, let's try it."
My fear, which at it’s worst is paralysing, will constantly pull me back to certainty, to safe glazes and shapes, the ‘commercially viable options’. But if I constantly choose ‘safe’, I risk becoming a participant in commerce rather than a creator of art that speaks to my soul.
Through my heart I feel that each one of these marble pieces is a step into uncharted territory, away from the commonplace and towards self-expression. Each piece is expressing itself to me, to you, into existence.
The Po***ck Dinner Plate; the plate my heart envisioned in 2018, but one I could not find anywhere. Yes, this is 'that' typical business start-up story. But here we are, 6 years later. Wall-to-ceiling shelving packed full of plates… Life lesson? Ideas take off, so buckle up 🚀
Greetings; March Update 🌟

I'll be sharing snippets of the journey with you so you can see how our sourcing, design and development journey comes together. Spoiler alert: it's far from refined, but it's the raw and real process, and your unfiltered peek behind the scenes.
Please swing by the stories if you fancy being a part of the brainstorming sessions, taking in new cultural experiences, and a few days hiking in the foothills of the Himalayas to finish off the trip! 🥾🥾
