All smiles before AND after - successful* for my guy 15 months post knee injury and reconstruction by and his team 🏉
No nerves on my end, this man left no stone unturned on his rehab journey as evidenced by his stellar return to sport assessment, with thanks to Dr Jay at
*we’re ignoring the finger dislocation
One of us can bench the other one’s all time squat PB. I’m sure it’s pretty hard to figure out who.
Back on deck with .ian for the Academy program 🏉 🏉 physio 🤝 s&c
Speaking of elite duos, I reckon we look like Bert and Ernie 😂
This whole rugby business has been great fun but finally getting a professional mugshot done is surely the biggest perk 🏉
Even if my request to photoshop bigger guns was just given one of these “😂” - thanks for nothing Ash 😡😤
Aussie working with ACL-injured patients - help my postgrad colleagues out and fill out this short survey! Do it for science!

Unreal week with the as part of my sports postgrad 🏉
So much gold and it’s already taken my rehab game to another level. Looking forward to bringing some elite processes to the clinic, and .lightning
Thanks for having me!
Expect a bit more of this content as I’ve taken on the role as head physio for the - the ball is a funny shape and guys keep kicking it out of bounds on the full but everyone is really nice 😂 🏉
We have a great multi-disciplinary team with my post-grad colleague plus head trainer and RMT Tamara, chiro Jamal and physio students/trainers and Brian L
The icing on the cake is getting to work alongside my old friend and S&C mastermind 💪🏽
Now to learn the rules..

Huge result for my guy winning the Div 1 1st team MVP 🏆
I’ve been working with Hayden since last year after a multiligament ankle injury and resultant chronic instability, recurrent swelling and impingement.
However, I didn’t see a train wreck and the foot/ankle 🐐 .drormaor was involved early on.
The decision was made to get in a block of rehab and reassess ✅
Hayden could barely stand on one leg when we started - no exaggeration!
We worked from the ground up and progressed through:
- toe/foot strength
-capacity through the plantarflexor, dorsiflexor, evertor and inverter musculature
-dynamic, multi-planar balance
-addressing both hip- and knee-dominant single leg conditions
-jump and plyometric capacity
-running progression
-on-field and sports-specific progression
-graded return to training and stepwise progression of match time
Massively proud of how hard this guy worked to get back, well-deserved result 🫡 ✊
Patient Matt with a spicy haemarthrosis (bleeding within the joint)
Images are 2 days post “unhappy triad” injury (ACL/MCL/medial meniscus) at footy
Matt had a block of settling the knee and regaining range of motion prior to reconstruction, which has paid dividends with full extension available already at 2 weeks post surgery
Now the fun part starts!
The epic photos an actual photographer takes versus the photos I take
Looking good

It’s easy until it’s not..
One lap (“yard”) of 6.71km on the hour, every hour until one person is left standing - everyone else DNFs 🙅🏽♂️
A distance PB for me and happy to crack the 100k
About 10 runners still going!
Big congrats to for a 2:03 at the Swan River Half over the weekend 🏃♀️
Michelle had a persistent calf ni**le when trying to build up for this run at the start of the year, coming on a few kms in and building to a 5-6/10 pain at about 6kms
She’s been on my gym programs for a couple of years now (after some pestering) and her strength and endurance testing was as expected 🏋️♀️
Running assessment did not reveal anything relevant and neural and vascular causes were ruled out
I diagnosed simple biomechanical overload, so we knew we were ok to put up with some pain in the calf, but trying to pull a run once it really started to build over that 3-4/10 mark
Michelle continued her strength+power work and we worked on conservative mileage increases, and she’s been running really strongly the last 4-6 weeks into the race
(She says she was just happy to finish, I reckon she killed it!)
On the left, Aaron is 5.5 weeks post left Achilles rupture and 4 weeks post repair by Dr JLP at
On the right, 6.5 weeks post-op.
Calf muscle bulk and definition has markedly improved, primarily from full weight bearing during gait and a combination of high intensity and high rep gastroc and soleus isometric work
We are training with a combination of closed chain hip dominant and open chain knee dominant exercises to avoid stressing ankle dorsiflexion, plus nobody’s favourite cardio machine, the ski erg
Swipe for a picture of our goal, the one and only Tom Platz. No pressure Aaron.
Very proud of finishing 11th in the country (U/17) at the Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships on the Goldy over the weekend
Georgia started with a huge amount of enthusiasm for her training including twice daily gym workouts!
We were able to focus that energy into two volleyball-specific high-intensity S&C sessions and she has blown apart her VWA testing from last year, with thanks to the great man
Congrats legend!! 🏋️♀️
.on.the.run has just smashed the Australian women’s record for the Backyard Ultra format with 41 completed laps - that’s 275kms - at Herdy’s Frontyard 🔥
Unbelievable is the wrong choice of words because nothing surprises me about what this absolute specimen is capable of!
Pictured here with wild man and 3rd place male Chris Martin (pic credit or whoever has his phone)
Thanks for the support this year everyone!
Appreciate you all 🤝
I’ve finished up at Better fx and now open full time at Bibra Lake!
A great time to use any residual private health rebate to get a head start on 2022 🧘♀️🏋🏾♂️
One of my main areas of interest is helping people start exercise again during/after injury or extended time off (looking at you, new-ish mums and dads!)
Why wait until the New Year - take the step and let us help you start building a healthy exercise habit, whatever your goals are 🥊🏈🏀
Friend of the show with some spicy ankle inversion sprain progression - note the slightly unusual haematoma probably due to his wearing of an ankle brace and being right onto his immediate injury management.
There was low suspicion of fracture on assessment based on the Ottawa rules and negative syndesmosis testing. Talar tilt and anterior drawer testing stable.
Some light compression and strapping for the few days post-injury and walking as tolerated.
He is now walking nearly pain-free.
We will start loading the ankle on Monday to expose the injured tissue and encourage it to heal strong 💪🏽
Had a blast yesterday at the Ultra Series WA Great Trail Relay with these fine gentlemen
100km on a fun 2.5km short trail course. Averaged 4:59 for my 25k which is not bad for a big fella!
14 year old Oliver buried himself and kept up some consistent laps, huge effort!
If you’ll look closely you’ll see a bit of bark missing and a less-than-circular baton (sorry Shaun!)
A nice, plain-text summary of an important area of consideration for half of the athletes we see.
The take-home is: yes!
During the pre-ovulation (late follicular) phase, it seems prudent to modify training loads, particularly loads associated with greater force production and higher potential risk.
