THIS SWEET BOY HAS NO WHERE TO GO 💔

This sweetheart is on transport (has found very temporary care as arrived in Melbourne yesterday and the person who was going to take him changed there mind. So with no where to go very urgent very temporary foster care was found for this weekend only, then he is in kennels until Friday. If we can't find a foster carer he is going back to the pound where he could be euthanised.

He needs A MIRACLE NOW. He needs a VIC FOSTER CARER locked in NOW to take him on Friday 9th. Final drop off is Calder (Melbourne).

The poor boy doesn't even have a name so has been nicknamed Milo. He is a brindle staffy x mix breed. Approx 18 months old. Very very friendly and just a complete happy boy. He’s a sweetheart. Good with the other dogs. No vet work done yet. Not tested with cats.

This is extremely urgently and time is limited. We don’t have any other information other than our rescue is the difference between his life and death and we can only save him if we can find a foster carer.

PLEASE IF YOU CAN HELP SAVE HIS LIFE please fill in the foster carer application and we will get back to you.

APPLICATIONS CLOSED. Thank you for the beautiful applications we have received, you are amazing. I wish we had more Ruperts, like Oprah we'd give you all a doggo.

RUPERT has come back through no fault of his own and is AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.

Meet Rupert. Male Cavoodle, desexed, 18 months, located Canberra.

Dear little Rupert is part of the large intake of Cavoodles we took in recently. He is a lovely little thing and is a huge fan of a snuggle. In his past life he never knew the luxury of a home or family of his own, but then he saw the couch. He has taken to home life and love like a duck to water and despite being very isolated in the past he'll now happily ride in the car, go to cafes and meet up for a game of chasies with his new friends.

What Rupert needs to thrive.

🐻 Another young, gentle and playful dog for company. This is non negotiable as he draws confidence from his foster sister and would not thrive alone.

🐻 An active family. He's only a baby but with time and confidence he'd be your buddy camping, running, swimming or kids sport on the weekend. He just wants to be part of what you are doing. No kids under 10 as he hasn't been tested with very young children. Or cats.

🐻 Someone home enough to finish his housetraining. He's made great strides and now can poo outside with 100% accuracy, his wees are still a little hit and miss. He is supersmart and it won't take long.

🐻 Rupert is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated. He has a clean bill of health and a gorgeous coat. He'll require grooming every 8 weeks or so and weekly brushing.

If you are interested in adopting Rupert and you do fit the criteria, please fill in our application form giving us as much information as possible about your family and the life you may be able to offer Rupert www.deniseatpaws.com.au/contact-us

Should you adopt a cat with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)?

There are so many myths about FIV in cats, including its transmission to other cats and the severity of the virus. This is due to myths about the disease that while debunked, continue to raise alarms for those looking to adopt. We have FIV resident and foster cats, have rehomed many FIV cats, and raised numerous FIV and non-FIV cats within the same household with not a single cat transmitting the virus to another. Please read through the below to learn the facts about cats with FIV.

Chico is still searching for the purrfect home 🏡 🐾

Gender: Male
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Age: 18 months
Vet work: Desexed, vaccinated, flea/wormed, microchipped (991003002436308) and vet health checked.

My Story:
I was rescued off the street, where my cat family was all I knew. I had not had good experiences with humans before. Thanks to my patient foster carer, I now enjoy the luxury life that indoor-living offers, especially treats, teaser toys, and sitting on the window sill to chatter at birds.

Personality:
Chico is shy but incredibly gentle, and loves playing with his cat friends, so would be best suited to a multi-cat home to provide companionship and reassurance.

Ideal home:
Being a shy boy, Chico does not do well with kids or chaotic environments. He will need a quiet home with patient people where he can be encouraged to gain his confidence at his own pace.

My secret superpower:
Opening cupboards 🫣😂

Adoption fee: $150.

With the growing number of street cats and new cat colonies that have formed, we have been working hard to desex and rehome where possible. Like many rescuers, we have found it difficult to keep up and therefore we are so grateful for the support from the ARC Leichardt Hub who have provided us with cat food, dog food and disinfectant wipes. These donations will assist to tide us over during this difficult economic period and we really appreciate ARC's support. ARC Leichhardt Hub NSW - Chip in and sponsor ARC and the rescuers it supports 19/06/2024

Animal Rescue Cooperative have been providing animal rescuers with a massive amount of support for years! During periods where we have been overwhelmed by animals and needed resources, we have reached out to them where they have provided an incredible amount of supplies. This has included support for cases where individuals have struggled with mental health, DV and other emergency situations and could not afford to feed their cats and dogs. We would like to say a massive thank you to Sarah and the team at the ARC Leichardt Branch and encourage those of you who can donate to do so as this is certainly an organization we can vouch for.

Beluga is waiting for her forever family 🥰

Beluga has experienced a lot of trauma, but with love and care, she has gained confidence. 🐾😽 She has slowly transformed from a scared cat who wouldn’t come out from under the bed, to one who will explore the house and dabble in playing with cat toys.

Beluga loves to share in special moments with her humans while being brushed or given treats, but otherwise is happy to keep to herself, perching in the window sill and watching the world go by, or cozying up in the cupboard to nap amongst your clothes. 😴

Beluga is approximately 2 years old and needs a home with another cat for reassurance, or someone with lots of time to dedicate to her. Beluga’s ideal home is with a quiet individual or couple with NO kids so she can further develop her trust for humans. Her adoption fee is $150. She is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped (953010100509319), flea and wormed, and vet health checked. ✔
Located in Lidcombe NSW for any meet and greets with Beluga.

Please assist The Cat Sanctuary - Australia to raise money for Rosie's surgery 💜💜💜

To our loyal followers I’m turning to you for urgent help. I really have no choice to be honest. The vet bills have built up and to be able to continue to say YES to cats and kittens in their darkest hours that come our way I need to be able to clear our vet bills tonight.

I’m hoping at least 12 of you can kickstart our urgent fundraiser to clear our vet bills by clicking here now: https://the-cat-sanctuary.giveeasy.org/urgent-help-for-rosie

I’m sure you understand. Sometimes in rescue you absolutely try everything but unfortunately as hard as you try you don’t get the result you are after. It pains your heart so much.

Meet Rosie. Rosie came into our care in October 2023 after being found with an a**l prolapse. We treated her injury and got her ready to find a loving forever home.

But we found that Rosie had a previous ectopic pregnancy and needed surgery. We believe the pregnancy had caused the initial prolapse. Rosie would have 3 more prolapses requiring repair, followed by a colonplexy.

When Rosie was ready to come home, we noticed she had an abdominal hernia on the opposite side to her other surgery sites. So Rosie underwent surgery to repair this strange injury.

When we finally brought Rosie home, she was recovering well and seemed ready for rehoming. But then her right eye started to swell. We ran tests to determine the cause and treated her with medications until her eye returned to normal.

Then one of her back legs started to swell. After more tests, we found out she had toxoplasmosis.

For the next few weeks we treated her for the toxo, massaged her leg and did everything to help Rosie recover and keep the swelling down.

As the swelling went down, we saw her swollen leg had gone fibrous with clusters of cysts which began to spread. We did all the tests, took biopsies but had to make the heartbreaking decision to let Rosie go. We later found out Rosie had a rare and aggressive form lymphoma.

As you can imagine, we have a very large vet bill for our rescue which we need to clear. We did everything possible for Rosie. We really did and if we had the opportunity we would do it all again. It’s why we were put on this planet, to help those cats and kittens in their urgent time of need.

We need to raise over $3,500 to clear Rosie’s vet bills.

Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us to our goal. It’s the cost of your next cup of coffee but one that will help us so much.

If you can please write the word DONE below after you have donated and please please share this far and wide. Let’s do this in honour of Rosie.

Your donation tonight will help us do what we do best. It’s my promise to you that we will continue doing everything we possibly can for the cats and kittens that come our way.

Please donate now: https://the-cat-sanctuary.giveeasy.org/urgent-help-for-rosie

How to cut stray cat numbers in a way that works better for everyone 31/05/2024

The importance of free desexing programs and the impact on the community...a very good read

How to cut stray cat numbers in a way that works better for everyone Traditional methods based on trap, adopt or euthanise have failed to control cat numbers. An eight-year trial of a more supportive community cat desexing program has been a resounding success.

Our darling Mira is waiting on her forever family 😻

Sweet, snuggly, and a little bit cheeky, Mira is 5 months old and embodies all the crazy stereotypes of ginger cats!! She is fearless, loves getting into mischief, and when tired out will happily plop down beside you for a nap.

Mira’s mum was a stray that came into our care when she was heavily pregnant. Due to labour complications, she needed an emergency c-section.
One baby survived - Mira the miracle!💪🐈

Mira is strictly an indoor cat, and needs a home with another cat companion to play with. Ideally she will be adopted with her mum, Beluga, but she would also do well in a house with another young cat/kitten. 🐾 Any children in the family must be over the age of 12.

For an adoption fee of $220, Mira is desexed, fully vaccinated, microchipped (991003002548145), flea and wormed, and vet health checked. ✅
Located in Lidcombe NSW for any meet and greets.
