Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation

With one foot on the front line, and one in the future, we're here for those who deserve our all.

One of the largest and most trusted kids’ health charities in the country, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation exists to help provide all children with access to the best possible healthcare, whenever and wherever they need it. We have been delivering on this promise for the last 35 years, raising millions every year for a collective of two major children’s hospitals, specialised care services,

Last weekend we were privileged to be part of the Running for premature babies Kids Fun Run in Coogee.

It was a great day with kids of all ages taking part, and we were lucky to be joined by the Newborn & paediatric Emergency Transport Service - NETS NSW team at the finish line to show participants how their fundraising helps.

A huge thank you to Running for Premature Babies and everyone who came down to support the event, and raised funds to support NETS. Check out the Running for Premature Babies page for more photos from the day.

As the games kick off, we want to wish our Aussie athletes the very best of luck. Every stride, leap, and movement you make will not only fill your country with pride but also inspire thousands of children and families watching in admiration too.

In particular we want to wish our Patient Ambassador Jasmine Greenwood all the very best as she competes in the 50 metre freestyle, 100 metre butterfly, 100 metre backstroke and the 200 metre individual medley - please join us by writing a message to Jasmine and to all the incredible athletes competing in the comments below.

Nearly a third of Australia’s 30-member swimming team will make their Paralympic Games debut at the Paris 2024, but what they lack in experience they more than account for in potential.

The team is on the ground in Paris and ready to go!

🌱 Meet Jimmy, a dedicated volunteer with the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation and former TIMES Magazine photojournalist. His passion for children’s health and the Foundation’s amazing work led him to write and publish "The Giant Green Grape," a heartwarming children’s book that gently introduces the circle of life to young audiences.

The best part? Every cent from the sale of this book goes directly to the Foundation, helping to support the vital work we do. 🍇📚

We’re so proud to feature "The Giant Green Grape" for Book Week 2024! Thank you, Jimmy, for turning your love for storytelling into something that gives back to our community.

🎨 A special shoutout to the talented Nicole Lekach, who brought this story to life with her stunning illustrations. Make sure to check out her work!

🥇 FROM PATIENT TO PARALYMPIAN 🥇

At just six years old, Jasmine’s world was turned upside down when a life-threatening infection left her with permanent brain damage.

But it was through this experience that her extraordinary talent was discovered, and a Paralympic swimming star was born. 🏊‍♀️

Today, Jasmine still faces physical challenges from her brain injury. A seemingly minor action like adjusting her goggles can prove challenging. Despite this, Jasmine’s unwavering resilience has propelled her to qualify for the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games!

Without donors generously supporting specialist nurses and allied health professionals including occupational therapists, inspiring stories like Jasmine’s may not be possible.

With your help, we can give more kids like Jasmine the chance to thrive beyond the hospital walls.

Become a Regular Giver today and give sick kids the chance at a future as bright as their dreams.

14 - 20 July is National Diabetes Week.

When Jake was 11 years old, he was rushed to The Children's Hospital at Westmead with dangerously high blood glucose levels. He was later diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).

Jake’s world changed forever that day, but with help of the diabetes educators and endocrinologists at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Jake and his family began the journey of learning to navigate the complexities of his condition.

Luckily for Jake, his mum recognised the four tell tale signs of T1D early before he became too unwell. Things to look out for are:

🚰Thirst - drinking a lot more than usual
🚽Toilet - frequently needing to urinate
😴Tired - constantly feeling fatigued
🤔Thinner - unexplained loss of weight

If you experience these symptoms, it’s important to seek medical advice immediately.

T1D does not discriminate. It can develop at any age and as yet there is no cure.

Follow us this National Diabetes Week to explore what life is like living with Type 1 Diabetes. 💜🧡
