🌟 HELLO! I’m K (like the letter), and I’m running for USU Board this year! By now, you may have noticed that I’m fairly active around USyd, including being an exec and member of 15 clubs and societies. As it’s my last year as an undergrad, I’ve been trying to make the most of my experience here, and now I want to do the same for everyone! Having talked to my fair share of people, especially international students, I’ve noticed a recurring theme of the isolation and loneliness faced by many due to studying primarily online or being in a new country and living within a different culture. As someone who is extroverted and loves meeting others, I want to make new friends and help others do so too.

The circumstances of the past few years have also brought upon a lot of judgement and stereotypes directed towards certain groups, such as coronaracism towards the Chinese/Asian community, antisemitism passed off as casual discrimination, systemic racism against Indigenous people and a lot more, with those only being the tip of the Iceberg. Which of course, isn’t OK and shouldn’t be accepted. That’s why I want to make a difference for others, starting with my own university. By speaking up against these issues and creating spaces and events where everyone is welcome, we can inform others of such problems, and show that these kinds of assumptions aren’t true at all and that members within these groups are every day, hard-working people, just like you and I. Join me as I use my campaign and platform to help others and create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive USyd. 🌟
