Yesterday, we welcomed Federal Minister for Education, Hon Jason Clare MP, to the Faculty of Health and to our Simulation Laboratories.
Minister Clare met with our nursing and midwifery students Elijah, Jasmine, Sarah and Clare and discussed the Federal Government’s recent Budget announcements impacting the higher education sector, particularly the Commonwealth Prac Payment. He was very keen to hear the student's views and hear their experience balancing practical placement with studies and other work commitments.
“I think it is really important to alleviate that financial anxiety,” said Elijah, a bachelor of nursing student at the University of Technology.
Thank you to the Australian College of Nursing for your support! 🤝

"Historically, autism has been viewed through a gendered lens with incorrect assumptions that only boys can be autistic, resulting in oversight and inadequate support," Dr Rachel Grove.

In partnership with the Lung Foundation Australia, researchers at the University of Technology Sydney are conducting an international survey to find out about the different ‘breathlessness action plans’ being used by people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (sometimes also called emphysema, chronic bronchitis or chronic asthma).
The research team is hoping to hear from:
🧑People living with COPD who have first-hand experience of using a breathlessness action plan; and
👪Family members or others who provide support to someone with COPD using a breathlessness action plan.
Participation will involve completing a 15-minute online questionnaire or telephone/Zoom interview, according to your preference.
Results from the survey will inform the co-design of an optimal breathlessness action plan to be made available free-of-charge by the Lung Foundation Australia as a complement to their COPD action plan. We are also seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to partner on the co-design phase.
More information about the survey can be found here: https://bit.ly/3NrBfvb
