Jeans for Genes Australia
Making the incurable, curable. 1 in 20 kids face a birth defect or genetic disease.
Our Jeans for Genes campaign helps our scientists at Children's Medical Research Institute find treatments and cures, so kids can just be kids.
Our Stem Cell Medicine Group at Children's Medical Research Institute is a founding partner of an expert network aimed at reducing the use of animals in medical research, as announced by Medical Research Minister David Harris MP this week. This is a very exciting initiative and weโre grateful to the NSW Government for their support of this work.

It was wonderful to see one of our former faces of Jeans for Genes Teddy, catching up with A/Prof Leszek Lisowski and Dr Andrea Perez-Iturralde at the recent 2nd International CTNNB1 Foundation Syndrome Conference in Slovenia. There were 81 families from around the world in attendance โ the largest gathering of kids with this condition โ and everyone was dedicated to finding a treatment for this genetic condition.
Congratulations to Hani Kim for her publication out today in Nature (Springer Nature) which uses machine learning to study how the body responds to heart, lung, liver and kidney transplants. This will provide vital insight to helps kids like a former face of Jeans for Genes Charlize, who require life-saving transplants, as their only form of treatment for genetic disease.

We will share a different story every week but for now, please join us in welcoming them to the family! ๐
During National Reconciliation Week, we wanted to share this profound story we learned as part of our efforts to better connect with country and understand more about this area where Children's Medical Research Institute research takes place.
We are dedicated to protecting the health of children, dedicated to finding treatments and cures, and the She-Oak is a perfect symbol for how we see ourselves as part of the world around us.
We acknowledge the Burramattagal People of the Darug Nation, the traditional custodians of the lands and waterways in Westmead (Sydney) where CMRI stands today. We acknowledge the Traditional Owners and custodians of these lands and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
