With very many thanks to Jen Robinson for initiating the Acacia Program and continuing to provide us all such tremendous inspiration.

Why Acacia Scholarships?

The iconic national plant, the acacia, thrives around Australia. Resilient to drought, wind and bushfire, the acacia is a symbol of Australian spirit and outlook. Acacia seeds lay dormant, sometimes for years, having all the elements they need to grow and flower, but require heat from fire to crack open their hard shell for water to enter and enable the seeds to flourish and reach their ecological potential.

The Acacia Program recognises that our public education system has all the elements that every child in Australia needs to reach their potential and to achieve anything. Our public schools and teachers, like the soil, sun, air and rain, provide all that Australian kids need to grow and flourish. Acacia seeds drop to the ground, full of potential to grow into something amazing.

Each student needs to find or light that fire to flourish and reach their potential. The Acacia Program aims to help students recognise the opportunity and potential they have and to provide that fire, inspiration and encouragement, to show them that they can achieve whatever they set their mind to. Our public schools and teachers give Australian kids all the elements they need to succeed, but they must start the fire to crack open and grow and flourish, just like the acacia.
