Elly is very affectionate and loves to play with her toys 🧸🥰

The pups are working breed types, so they are very clever and demand a lot of exercise. They are looking for active families looking for a dog to join in all their activities and train them to be obedient family members.

Elly weighs approx. 10kgs at 11 weeks of age ❤️

To adopt or foster Elly, please firstly make sure you have read the "5 steps to Adopt" information, and then complete the adoption questionnaire on our website.♥️

‼CINDERELLA NEEDS AN URGENT MEDICAL FOSTER HOME‼
9-month-old Cinderella (nee Whiskey) was left at a rural pound. Please watch the YouTube link below to a heartfelt video was shared from the pound where she was surrendered, so you can understand her story up to now.
We named her Cinderella in the hope she will have a chance at a new beginning.

When we took her on it was evident she had a medical issue and was circling to the right a lot. We took her on knowing she would otherwise have no chance. She is a lovely affectionate girl with disabilities. She is currently on anti-seizure and anti-anxiety medications to help her calm and reduce the circling.

She had an MRI which showed that part of her brain is growing into her nose and sinuses. There is no good surgical option, so the only option is medical management to control her seizures lifelong. The small number of dogs that have this condition and have been written up, generally live a shorter life but generally live mostly normal lives.

She has a lot of energy to run and loves to wander in fenced garden areas and go on sniffaris. She does tug at your clothing when excited, not knowing how to always connect appropriately. When she is calm, she is an affectionate loving girl who enjoys gentle stroking. She has a soft scruffy coat and weighs 13.1kg.

She is best as an only dog as she gets too stressed and circles more when she gets excited around dogs.

Cinderella is looking for a special foster home who can cope with her idiosyncrasies and make sure she gets her daily pills. Vet nursing experience would certainly be of benefit. DoggieRescue is committed to her ongoing medical costs. The MRI alone was over $2,000 excluding other tests and medications.

For more details about Cinderella please send an on-line application form from our web site or call 9486 3133.

We are all praying for her fairy tale happily ever after to come true - a foster or forever home who will love her just the way she is ❤✨

Cara and her siblings have gained weight and have been socialising with some young shelter mates - they love to play!

Cara is very affectionate and loves to snuggle up with you 🥰

They are working breed types, so they are very clever and demand a lot of exercise. They are looking for active families looking for a dog to join in all their activities and train them to be obedient family members.

Cara came in weighing 4.3kg at 6 weeks, and at her 10 week vaccination this week she weighed in at approx 10kgs!

🐾Weekly adoptions & foster announcement 🐾

This week sees a lovely foster fail for our German Shepherd girl Bounty - they could not part with her 🩷, and yet another big week for some of our smaller residents who have also been flooding pounds across the state.

1 yr old boy Zappa has been adopted by a lady who will spend the days with him working from home - he is her first rescue dog ❤️

12 yr old Scruffy has been adopted by a couple who have adopted a few small mature dogs from us, the last being 15yo Maltese Poppy. 💛

Popular Rosie has been adopted by a couple with a male Toy Poodle who will help show her the ropes and help build her confidence.
Rosie was named by Cheryl through our Pawsitively Personalised Program - check our website for more details.💜

Kitten litter mates Ryan and Gabriella have both found homes via our clinic.💙

Finally, our foster appeal for 15yr old Honey has been answered and she has found another foster home as previous carers could no longer keep her. Let’s hope things will become stable for her 💚

♥️ Meet Pearl
⭐️12 yr old female Mini Foxy x
⭐️ Suit full time worker
⭐️ Apartment friendly

Pearl is a super sweet girl who has had a tough life. Pearl is gentle and easy to handle. She came from the pound thin and with a huge ulcerated mammary tumour so she has stayed at our vets until well enough for surgery.
Pearl has some frosty vision and a crinkled ear flap from untreated ear infections but our vet says, “She is a tough little nugget”.
She woke up after anaesthetic from mammary tumour surgery and was ready to munch some food! We are all delighted. She still needs a dental and some smaller mammary tumours removed but the big one is over. She has a short coat and weighs 5kg.

To adopt or foster this little love bug Pearl, please firstly make sure you have read the “5 steps to Adopt” information, and then complete the adoption questionnaire on our website.♥️

✨Did you know the large majority of dogs finding themselves homeless are young, healthy dogs under 3yrs old. Sadly many of these animals once in the pound, don’t get a chance to live the life they should be able to. Some don’t even get to live. That’s the sad reality of the crisis that pounds and shelters across Australia are facing with pet abandonments at an all time high.
The requests flow constantly for people wanting to surrender their animals for a multitude of reasons - reasons that perhaps should have been seriously considered before taking in an animal whose individual needs are the responsibility of those who have been entrusted to care for them. Yet they are being let down time and time again.

Make no mistake - adopting an animal is a huge commitment.
We have a stringent adoption process so that the best match possible is made with the intention that the animal will be with their family for the rest of their lives, no matter what.

We do our best to rescue who we can within the limitations of space at the shelter which is already at capacity.

Meet some of these young precious souls who have a second chance at the life that they deserve, and are so worthy of a second chance at that happily ever after. Please always consider adopting - the unconditional love you get in return is truly priceless.
Thankyou to our amazing volunteers and kennel staff who treat these animals like their own until their forever family come along.

‼️UPDATE - Bolt & Olympia adopted ‼️

Introducing our Olympic pups: Olympia, Cara, Nina, Elly and Bolt.
They were saved from a rural pound after being brought to a vet clinic for euthanasia at 6 weeks 😔

They are looking for active families looking for a dog to join in all their activities and train them to be obedient family members.

If you’re looking for an active pup to join your family, Olympia, Bolt, Nina, Elly and Cara have what it takes to become your new family member♥️

🐾Weekly adoptions & foster announcement 🐾

Six amazing adoptions at DoggieRescue last week!

Wednesday our stunning black kitty has been adopted by one of our volunteers.

Sparke, a 5 month old cavoodle was adopted by one of our vets. She came to DR along with two adult cavoodles Bubbles & Fizz, who are a bonded pair and looking for a home together. They are listed on our website in our bonded pairs section if you are interested in adopting an instant family!

Our two remaining games litter Staffy pups, Chess and Cluedo also found their forever homes within a day of each other.

Chess has been adopted by a family who have had staffies before and currently have a young staffy girl who was looking for a friend. They got along well from the get go.

Cluedo has been adopted by a young couple who have grown up with staffies and this is their first rescue dog.

So great to see all five pups find loving homes so quickly ♥️

We put out a call for an urgent foster carer for sweet JRT boy Jerry, but even better - he has been adopted by a family who have had a couple of DR dogs and their current mature JRT girl was looking for a new friend.

Finally, 15 yrs young golden oldie Poppy has been adopted by a couple who have set up their home specifically for their retirement furkids.
Poppy quickly became a social media favourite when we posted her profile last week - we think she could even become an influencer if she wants to 😂.

Please consider adopting or fostering if you’re in the position to do so. The more dogs fostered or adopted from the shelter, the more we can help save from council pounds. 🤍

Our Story

Doggie Rescue is a private registered charity that has a No-Kill policy and believes in saving and re-homing as many dogs as we can from the council pounds. Dogs rescued from the pound are microchipped, heartworm tested and vaccinated by a veterinarian, who also gives them a basic health check and provides us with an estimate of theri age. The dogs are desexed (if required) and given any additional veterinary treatment to return them to good health.
All of the rescued dogs are then cared for, awaiting adoption into a permanent loving home. Once the dogs have completed 8-10 days quarantine (so we can observe them for any llnesses they may have picked up) they are then available for adoption. Doggie Rescue’s Rehoming number is R251000024.
