Our Year 9 Scientists began their mini field studies, with the collection of soil pH data.

CathWest Innovation College will host various workshops during the Term 3 Holiday Break from Mon 30 Sept - Wed 2 Oct 2024 at the Loyola campus in Mount Druitt.

The workshops include Animation, Barista, Character Illustration, Beauty, Hairdressing, Fitness, Safety Whitecard (Licenses4Work - AQF accredited), and Traffic Control (2-day course, Licenses4Work - AQF accredited, 17 years+).

📚 Book Week 2024 📚

A huge thank you to all the amazing students and teachers who dressed up as their favorite characters for Book Week! Your creativity made the day unforgettable! 🎉✨

🎉 We held our Senior Assembly today, and we want to extend a huge congratulations to all the students who received certificates! 🎓 Students were honoured with Leader of Learning Pathways Awards as part of the St Agnes award system, which recognises and affirms student achievement in various areas, including academic excellence, improvement, and service to the school and wider community.

We also celebrated students who participated in or completed programs like Vinnies Van, Creative Arts, ACU Step Up, UNSW Engineering, Youth ANZAAS, and YIWSA Awards. Congratulations to all our award recipients! 👏🌟

🦏🐘 On Wednesday, some of our Year 9 students were fortunate enough to take a trip to Sydney Zoo to engage in their 'Zoo of Poo' program.
In this program, students collected s**t samples from several hindgut fermenter animals in the zoo, such as elephants, rhinos, capybaras, koalas, wombats, and emus. Next week, students will analyze the s**t samples to determine the gut microbiome of the zoo animals and report their findings back to the zoo so that the zookeepers can use this data to adjust the animals' diets for better health. Year 10 students just wrapped up an incredible project, presenting their civilizations! Inspired by real historical cultures, they crafted societies with unique traditions, governance, and innovations. It's amazing to see how history shapes our understanding of the world—and how creativity brings it to life!

𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤
Busways would like to remind high school students and parents about the importance of road rule refreshers and driving around buses.
With nearly 1,350 buses operating across our network in 2024, this week provides a perfect reminder about road safety in our community, particularly regarding bus safety and commonly misunderstood road rules.
Many people believe they understand road rules, but a refresher on commonly misunderstood rules can play a crucial role in reducing road accidents.
Busways would like to remind motorists:
* That buses are large, heavy vehicles that cannot stop quickly,
* To give way to buses,
* To slow down to 40km/h when bus lights flash, and
* To hold on while travelling and to remain seated until the bus stops.

🎶 In Week 2, our Concert Band and various Pop and Rock bands took the stage at Nagle College for the CAPTIVATE Arts Factor Group Learning Exhibition! 🌟

They had the chance to watch and be inspired by performances from other schools. We can't wait to see and hear more from our talented group ensembles soon! 🎤🎸

📢 Today during Wellbeing Year 11 students had the opportunity to work on their public speaking skills, learning how to captivate an audience and deliver impactful messages. The students thoroughly enjoyed the seminar, picking up valuable tips and strategies that will be crucial throughout their leadership journey this term and an integral part of our Year 12 Leadership Launch.

Michael Kelly, Director of Kelly Speech Communication, delivered an engaging presentation titled “Delivering Memorable Messages”.

Michael is an expert in leadership communication, body language, and speech analysis, and has a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology. His impressive client list includes Commonwealth Bank, the NSW Ministry of Health, and the University of Sydney.

These new skills will empower year 11 students to confidently present in various leadership opportunities and contribute to lifelong skills towards their future career.

Today, we came together to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. We took time to reflect on the powerful virtues of faithfulness, commitment, and loyalty, which Mary exemplified throughout her life.

Our students have worked hard across Terms 2 and 3 to prepare their projects, which included technological efficiency, nuclear energy, alternative glass solutions, management of allergens, management of water, rubbish and fertiliser, and alternative materials for uniforms.

Mark your calendars for 12-16 August 2024, as we stand together for Australia’s leading bullying prevention initiative, Bullying No Way: National Week of Action. This year’s theme, ‘Everyone Belongs,’ emphasises the importance of creating safe, inclusive spaces.

At St Agnes, we’re taking proactive steps to support our students with the tools they need to handle challenges in and out of the classroom. During August our Wellbeing Lessons will focus on conflict resolution, emotion recognition, active listening, and problem-solving, this helps encourage empathy and a positive classroom culture.

Additionally, Year 8 students have already engaged in a powerful theatre experience, “Wired,” which addressed issues like social isolation, bullying, and mental health. This interactive performance provided strategies for resilience, goal-setting, and maintaining positive mental health.
