Steelers head coach Nathan Simpson creates history in becoming the inaugural women's coach of the Affiliated States Team in 2023.

Today the Tri Series kicks off with NSW and QLD going head to head, with Nathan Simpson's state team going into battle with a red hot NSW team on Friday.

Tomorrow's game will feature some of the greats from the Country South Steelers women team.

Congratulations on the appointment Coach Simpson, however go the 'Blues' 😊

Next week these weapons head to QLD to battle in the Tri-Series against QLD & Affiliated States.

The women's NSW team has five of the best players to play women's police rugby league, and of course they are part of the Steelers family.

In the men's NSW team, Rhys represents the Steeler's after being named player of the match in the City v Country game.

Cant be more proud and cant wait to watch these weapons in action next week.

Country South Steeler’s can confirm the services of Nathan Simpson as head coach of the women’s Steeler’s team for 2024. Nathan has also recently been appointed Head Coach of the inaugural Affiliated Women’s team for 2023.

Massive news coming from the board meeting was the appointment of the very first female to be signed as co-coach of the Country South Steeler’s for 2024.

Bedford has signed on as part of an elite coaching staff, that many would only dream of having in a club.

Bedford comes with plenty experience with links with the Brumbies, Canberra Raiders, Country rep, NSW rep and Australian representative.

Rumour has it that Coach Simpson has big plans for Coach Bedford, with plans of her becoming the first female Country coach in years to follow.

Country South Steelers would arguably have the most experienced coaching staff in the NSWPRL competition for 2024.

Over the past week the Steeler’s committee have retained the services of Gav Lennon as Head Coach of the Men’s for 2024. Gav is not only the Assistant Coach of the St George Illawarra WNRL team for 2023, but he is also the Coach of the women’s Australian PRL.

Moving into the co-coaching role for 2024, Country South Steeler’s have acquired one of the best forwards to ever play in the NSWPRL arena.

After sustaining a serious injury in 2023, Braydon Sharrock will be guided under super coach Gav Lennon and is considered to be the future head coach in years to come for the Steeler’s.

Will we see our Country teams go back to back? or will the City slickers avenge last years losses?

As the NSWPRL 2023 carnival is fast approaching, we have done some digging into the struggle to sign players to the Country South Steelers PRLFC in the early years of our club.

CONTRACT DRAMAS WITH STEELERS SUPERSTAR JENKINS

With the 2018 competition only months away, information received is Sean JENKINS is furious that he is required to contribute to the fees involved in this year’s tour.

Word is JENKINS is demanding the Steelers Board to arrange a third party agreement to cover the cost, as he is seasoned player and has represented the Aussie team for a number of consecutive years.

The Steelers go into the 2018 season after merging with the Southern Boars creating what some would say the team of the century.

The JENKINS drama is one that is similar to the Hayne v Titans story and it will be interesting to see where JENKINS will play in 2018.

Being a rip age of nearly 40, some will say JENKINS is running on old legs, as quoted from one NSW and Aussie selector Rod Sherro.

JENKINS manager has provided the following statement:
‘Sean doesn’t pull the boots on these days for anything less than $1000 a game'.

According to some people within the NSWPFRL circles he has been running on old legs for a number of years.

However for some reason JENKINS continues to still be selected for representative Duties.

Club president Yak made the following statement - 'After only recently turning 35, like the great Cameron Smith (Melbourne Storm) Sean is playing better footy than ever and as a current Australian representative, if the Southern Country Steelers wish to retain him for the 2018 season than we will nothing short of a free trip if that is what he demands’.

These comments are very humbling coming from the president, considering Yak used to dominate JENKINS in the group 7 competition.

NEW MENS COACH ANNOUNCED FOR 2023 - COUNTRY SOUTH STEELERS

'Gavin Lennon agrees to lead the Steelers in 2023 with his first signing is securing the services of Sean Jenkins as his assistant coach'

Coach Lennon is one of the most experienced coaches within the NSWPRL. Gavin is also the Head Coach of the women's NSW team for 2022.

Coach Jenkins would arguably be one of the hardest players to be involved in NSWPRL and he is a massive inclusion to the coaching ranks.

Coach Nathan Simpson has stepped aside from the men's team to focus all his efforts into leading the Steelers women team for 2023.

Although Simpson has stepped aside, there is no doubt he will play an important role in assisting Lennon in 2023.

Exciting times ahead for a great club.

Country and City squads announced for representative weekend The NSWRL is pleased to announce the Country and City squads for the representative matches on the weekend of 14-15 May across three venues.

Get down to the 8th Wonder Leichhardt oval on Sunday 15th May for some great City v Country action.

City V Country representative teams to be played at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday 15th May as part of festival of City v Country games being hosted by NSW Rugby League. Teams will go into camp Friday 13th May at Parramatta.

ELIGIBILITY - some minor changes made this year. Where you first went to high school and where does that school sit as far as City or Country Rugby League. This will determine what team you are eligible to be selected for.

Unfortunately, not our day, the girls put in a solid effort and fought hard until the final siren. Some brutal defence from the Steelers kept the game in the balance. However, Bankstown were just too good in the end.
