And lastly, we are excited to announce the seventh and final committee of : Newswire!
No Conference is complete without a team of journalists who report on the happenings of the conference. For this, we have our very own media outlet, the Newswire. The Newswire, consisting of an editor-in-chief and journalists, will not only be in charge of delivering articles about the intriguing debates in committee but will also be responsible for all other forms of social media such as the KULMUN Newswire Twitter page and Instagram account. If you’d like to improve your writing and reporting skills then this is the perfect committee for you!
We are happy to announce the sixth committee of : Crisis!
Crisis is a committee in which a delegate represents a character from a country or the country itself. It stimulates a real-life crisis situation, often based on reality, that the delegates need to try and resolve. It is a highly interactive committee in which each delegate can have an impact on the outcome and each decision can lead to unprecedented events.
We are thrilled to reveal the fifth committee of : ECLAC!!
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is a regional commission of the United Nations, established in 1948. ECLAC's primary mission is to promote economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean through research, policy advice, and technical assistance. It conducts in-depth analyses of economic trends, social issues, and sustainable development challenges. Furthermore, ECLAC facilitates regional cooperation and integration, providing a forum for dialogue among member states. By offering data, policy recommendations, and support, ECLAC aims to enhance equitable growth, reduce inequality, and improve living standards across the region.
We are happy to announce the fourth committee of : NATO!
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a political and military alliance established in 1949. Comprising 32 member countries from North America and Europe, NATO's primary mission is to ensure the collective defense of its members against aggression. This is achieved through mutual defense agreements, whereby an attack on one member is considered an attack on all. NATO’s core mandates encompass deterrence and defense, crisis prevention and management, and cooperative security. The organization engages in various activities including military operations, peacekeeping missions, and crisis management. Additionally, it promotes democratic values and encourages cooperation on defense and security-related issues among its members and partner nations.
We are excited to announce the third committee of : the European Parliament!
The European Parliament, the sole directly elected institution within the European Union, plays a pivotal role across all areas of EU competence and serves as a vital driving force behind European integration. Comprising 720 representatives organized by political affiliation rather than nationality, its primary function is to adopt European legislation proposed by the European Commission and to act as an equal co-legislator alongside the Council of the European Union. Through its extensive legislative, budgetary, and supervisory powers, the European Parliament stands as a true representative of the people, for the people.
We are happy to reveal the second committee of : UNESCO!
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was founded on November 16, 1945, to promote peace and security through international collaboration in education, science, culture, and communication. It aims to build intercultural understanding, protect heritage, and support scientific advancements. UNESCO’s work includes designating World Heritage sites, promoting literacy and gender equality in education, enabling freedom of expression, and coordinating international cooperation on environmental issues. By encouraging the free exchange of ideas and knowledge, UNESCO strives to cultivate a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world.
We are thrilled to officially announce the first committee of : UNEP!
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is an international organization established in 1972 to coordinate the global environmental agenda. Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, UNEP works to promote sustainable development and environmental conservation through research, advocacy, and partnerships. UNEP’s work is focused on helping countries transition to low-carbon and resource-efficient economies, strengthening environmental governance and law, safeguarding ecosystems, and providing evidence-based data to inform policy decisions. Its initiatives address critical issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and resource management, aiming to protect and restore the planet for present and future generations.
The international development agenda has greatly evolved since the start of the century. The past 80 years have seen a global improvement in several development indicators: a reduction in extreme poverty, reduced child mortality and the eradication of several communicable diseases are just a few examples. Nonetheless, the twenty-first century has given rise to new challenges and priorities, particularly in the form of the climate crisis, inequality, and the rise of international terrorism. However, this new agenda is being determined by the very same countries at the top of the global economy. This can lead to a disconnect from the issues faced by those living in the global periphery, away from international markets and major decision-making centers.
The agenda is shifting, though. The transition from the Millennium Development Goals to the Sustainable Development Goals especially highlights how the international community is beginning to recognize that there is a degree of variability in the challenges each country, and region, faces. Thus, it is becoming clear that in order to achieve the development and security goals sought after by the international community, it is time to decenter the narrative from Western-centric ideas of how development should occur. This advances an international agenda that accurately recognizes the cultural, political, and economic pluralism of our world.
SURPRISE: KULMUN 2025 will have two (!) Deputy Secretary-Generals! We are happy to present to you: Christine Langman & Alex Koval!
Read below a message from Christine:
"Hi! My name is Christine Langman, I’m 20 years old, and am from Panama City, Panama. I’m currently carrying out my studies as a Fine Arts student at the University of Salamanca, but will be doing my ERASMUS exchange in Bologna for the next academic year. I started my MUN journey in 2017, and throughout the years, I’ve had the chance to participate in multiple conferences as a delegate, chair, and Excom member, one of which was KULMUN 2024.
Furthermore, I credit Model-UN for helping me come out of my shell and making me find my love for public speaking. Outside of MUN, I’m a fan of art (obviously), hiking, travelling, meeting new people and am an avid sketchbook enthusiast. I’ll make sure to bring my creative flair (and good vibes) to Leuven, where I am beyond excited to see you all in 2025!"
Read below a message from Alex:
"Heya! I’m Alex, and I will have the pleasure of being one of your Deputy Secretaries General next Kulmun. I started my MUN career way back in high school and was immediately hooked. I was invested in the MUN world so much so that I decided to pursue it in my higher education as well, which is why I am currently studying International Relations and International Organization at the University of Groningen. Over the course of my MUN career, I went through the entire ladder of MUN positions. From a part of the media team through the head of finance & sponsorships and now finally a part of the secretarie’s general, I have done it (almost) all.
When not engaging in fruitful debates, I enjoy playing videogames discovering new music, as well as spending time with my friends. One thing I really don’t like is the Dutch weather, however I love living in the Netherlands. Especially since it is so close to Leuven ;)
I am beyond excited for KULMUN’25 alongside the ever so motivating and talented Daniel and Christine."
Stay tuned to find out the theme of the Conference!
We are thrilled to present to you: the Secretary-General of the 15th edition of the KULMUN Conference!
Read more about Daniel below:
Daniel was born in rainy Panama City, Panama and is a Global Studies graduate from the University of Salamanca, Spain. He found his passion for Model UN eight years ago, having played several roles in conferences: being a delegate, chairing, and organising them. Thanks to this, he has gotten the chance to participate in over 30 conferences all over the Americas and Europe. He has just completed his term as President of his then-home association, MUNUSAL, and is looking forward to taking over the academic side of KULMUN 2025.
More information coming soon!
It's official: the KULMUN Conference is back for its 15th edition! We are delighted to announce that KULMUN 2025 will take place from the 4th to the 8th of March! More information coming soon!

Throwback KULMUN Conference 2024! Thank you again to all participants at this amazing edition of KULMUN Conference. We hope to see you all at the next edition!
Every year, KULMUN sends delegations to conferences all over the world. So far this year, we had the opportunity to send our members to 7 conferences to brush up their skills and extend their network. The next upcoming conferences for KULMUN delegations to attend are EUROMUN, TEIMUN and much more!
In the name of KULMUN we are proud to announce that we have donated 200 EUROS to UNRWA.
Traditionally at our yearly Christmas Party, KULMUN makes the effort to support charities of our choice. In past years we have gathered money for De Warmste Week and written letters for Amnesty International. This year, the KULMUN board made the decision to gather money for UNRWA: the UN Palestinian Relief and Works Agency.
UNRWA stands as a beacon of hope for almost 6 million Palestinian refugees, providing support in education, healthcare, and social services. In the wake of the recent conflict in Gaza, the need for this support has never been more urgent. The devastation and loss of life demand a unified response from the global community, and as an organization which brings together socially engaged students, we recognize our responsibility to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
We are very grateful to Rotary Turnhout for their generous three-year structural funding supporting KULMUN!
Rotary Turnhout supports a mix of local and international projects in line with the six pillars of Rotary International: Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing Clean Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Promoting Women’s Rights, Supporting Youth and Protecting the Environment. KULMUN aligns perfectly with two major pillars: Promoting Peace and Supporting Youth.
An intriguing fact about Rotary is their involvement in the formation of the United Nations, earning them a seat in the General Assembly in recognition of their efforts in promoting goodwill and peace worldwide. As the world's largest Non-Governmental Foundation providing educational and humanitarian aid, we are immensely grateful for their support to our association.
We are thrilled to share with you our partnership with Publiq! Publiq is an organization dedicated to promoting democracy among young Belgians through a nationwide eloquence contest. Their mission is to empower youth to express their opinions and ideas, promoting civic engagement and democratic participation across linguistic communities through initiatives like the Publiq eloquence contest. Sponsored by the Brussels Parliament, their annual contests take place within the Parliament itself. This year, KULMUN has the privilege of serving as a judge in this contest, and we are very excited to see where this partnership brings us in the future!
During the KULMUN Conference 2024 we had the chance to enjoy the traditional belgian beer: Duvel! We would therefore like to thank Duvel for sponsoring us and providing us with their amazing products!
A big thank you to LOKO for making our EU Institutions Excursion possible!! This was an enriching experience for all participants!
We're delighted to announce a new partnership with John Cabot University Model United Nations, in Rome! We had the opportunity to send a delegation this year with great success and fond memories. We're very excited to see what this partnership will bring us in the future.
This year, the KULMUN Conference 2024 was sponsored by Noir Coffeebar, an extraordinary coffee shop located in Leuven! As coffee is an integral part of MUN, we are very grateful for this generous sponsorship. If you're in Belgium for a visit, or if you're studying in Leuven, don't miss out on the best coffee in town!
