Seminary Training in Ukraine A video update from the Evangelical Reformed Seminary of Ukraine.

I had the pleasure of attending a presentation Wednesday afternoon with the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA Canada) and Come Over and Help. These Christian charities work with local churches throughout Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa to deliver food, clothing and other resources to help those in need.

We focussed specifically on their efforts to help civilian populations who have been ravaged by wars by offering them assistance and hope in difficult times. I thanked them for their excellent work and look forward to working with them to advance peace and prosperity for all peoples.

One of our long-time and founding board members, Pastor Gerald Procee, passed away this week. Pastor Procee had a deep love for the church and longed to see people from all over Central and Eastern Europe know the Lord Jesus Christ. Over the years, Pastor Procee made many trips for Come Over & Help. In his last trip to Moldova last year, he came back very encouraged by what he saw not only in Moldova, but all over the former Soviet Union. He wrote "the Lord is at work in many nations in our day and age, drawing lost sinners to Himself. Sinners are being led to conversion. Churches are being planted, where several decades ago there were no churches. Among many nations, we see that there are pockets of Christians coming together and worshipping the Lord."

Even in war-stricken areas of Ukraine, Christians gather. This church, close to the front lines, has shattered windows and a damaged roof due to shelling. These brothers and sisters come every Sunday where they pray, read the Word and care for one another.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

Ukraine Update. From our partner, Mark Agarkov in Ukraine:

50 weeks of the war. Soon there will be exactly a year of a full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. How much pain, horror, and suffering this war has brought. Now I understand well the words of my grandparents from my childhood, who often repeated, "I wish you if only there were no war." I think now we will repeat this to our children and grandchildren. There is a lot of unrest and tension in Ukraine right now. Many talk about Russia's attempted second full-scale invasion in February-March. Some say that their efforts will be aimed at capturing the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Whatever it was, we know that the next 2 months will be the most difficult for Ukraine. Therefore, please pray these months for us, the church, the people, and our ministry. We actively prepare for all risks. Thanks to our sponsors and partners, we purchased the necessary equipment to set up a heating point in the church. We have installed Starlink, and now we have permanent Internet in the church. Thanks to everyone who participated in the acquisition. We also want to distribute warm sleeping bags and chemical and gas heaters to our church members soon to prepare for different scenarios.

It was a pleasure to spend time at a church retreat together this weekend. We were in the mountains, where there were no air raids or missile attacks. It was time for spiritual and emotional recovery. It is a forgotten feeling when we, as one community, could worship together. For almost a year, we have been deprived of this opportunity. Please pray that we, as the Kharkiv community, will have the chance to worship together again in a peaceful city. In our plans for the summer to return to the church from the evacuation, we hope the Lord will allow us to do this.

We continue to search for an autonomous home in the Kharkiv region to create a safe hub for church members. We want to take care of the safety of church members in case of an attempt to occupy the northern and eastern parts of the Kharkiv region and Kharkiv city. Pray that we have the right resources to find a suitable place.

We are immensely grateful for your support. So many responded to my last letter and wrote words of support. God bless you!
