If you have friends in town and are looking for something to do, we invite you to stop by Artworks Gallery Guelph at 404 York Road to see our Art and Poetry show. Open daily from 10-4. ART and POETRY show from July 8 to September 4 at Artworks Gallery Guelph, 404 York Road, open daily from 10-4. Our featured artist for this show is textile artist, Diana Scott. We have an exciting agenda for our Open House from 1-4pm on July 14. Come and see Diana’s work along with Patti Collins, Nancy Farrell Fine Artist, Suzanne Wakefield and Sharyn Seibert. From 3-4pm Diana will read from her soon to be published book of poetry, accompanied by Cassie Norton playing the violin.

Diana M. Scott is a Western Ontario based fibre/fabric artist and poet whose work is inspired not only by the nature she walks in daily but in her concerns, and fascination in the creatures (all of us too) who share this planet. Her artwork explores new ways of creating using old and new techniques acquired through the practice of dressmaking, the study of costuming and crafting. Through the use of colourful fabrics (cottons, silks and manmade) collected from many places around the world and using various construction techniques both hand and machine she creates pieces a wall can wear. Her poetry addresses both the joys and challenges of her life’s experiences using her particular point of view.

Yay! We won platinum in the Guelph Votes competition for Guelph’s art galleries. Thanks to everyone who voted for us. Please drop by this Saturday, May 11 to help us celebrate. We’re hosting an open house for “The Space Between”, our new show. Kate Rogers is our featured artist alongside regular members: Patti Collins, Suzanne Wakefield Nancy Farrell Fine Artist and Sharyn Seibert

What is “the space between”? For some it’s the distance between two objects. For others, it’s the concept of negative space. And for yet others, it’s the emotional distance between two people. Please come to our open house this Saturday, May 11 from 1-4pm at Artworks Gallery Guelph to see how our gallery artists have interpreted our theme. This has been one of the most challenging shows to date and we’d love for you to visit, either for our open house or daily from 10am to 4pm. See work by Patti Collins, Suzanne Wakefield, Nancy Farrell, and Sharyn Seibert. Also see dynamic urban vibe paintings by Kate Rogers, our Featured Artist.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Doors Open. A round of applause goes to Rain Bone and Adam Lindsay Honsinger for their concert. Adam’s “Matriarch” mixed-media work was admired by all at our event.

TOMORROW is Doors Open Guelph! 404 York Road, home to Ed Video, Artworks Gallery Guelph, Azure Photography, and Lost Aviators Coffee, will be open from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Important Note: York Road is under construction, so the best way to access 404 is via Stevenson & Beverly if driving. Look out for the yellow signs along the detour route. Pedestrian access is open.
