Do you have Rounded Shoulders?

Posture is often overlooked in fitness yet it highly impacts the quality of your training!

Imagine doing multiple pull ups or lat pull downs with rounded shoulders. Over time that may eventually lead to injury :/

Rounded or slouched shoulders can lead to chest tightness, back weakness and poor posture along with other complications if worsened. It also has an impact on your ability to exercise with good form.

The key to good shoulder posture is daily stretching and mobility, strengthening, and daily reminders to keep the shoulders down and back and the spine lengthened.

However you can get started with these 2 exercises!

Notes:
🟣 Pec Wall Stretch - the goal is to feel this in the front of the chest area into the armpit. If you feel this only in the back of the shoulder, stop, roll the shoulders back and down before trying again. It may take a few practice tries to feel it in the right place but that’s okay!

🟣 Kneeling Thoracic Extension - the goal is again to feel it in the chest, but also the lats as you bend your elbow. Try to keep the shoulders from shrugging & the neck should be relaxed.

Originally that was going to be the end of my caption but after hearing this song today I thought I’d share something more:

Lately I’ve been struggling with wanting many things to happen - “now”.

I’m always caught in a viscious cycle of wanting many things in an instant, working really hard and then feeling overwhelmed by it all and wanting to tap out.

I’m never completely happy and I don’t take the time to realize where I am or how I got there.

But the truth is that 4 years ago - even 1 year ago I would kill to be where I am today.

Lately I’ve been training myself to do a little mindset switch.

I’m telling myself to step back and look at what I have so far, look at what I’ve learned and compare where I am today to what my goals were in the past.

And after doing that, I’m realizing I AM living “the good life”.

And just because I don’t have all of the things I want, doesn’t mean they aren’t on the way.

Success doesn’t happen overnight. And you definitely won’t get there faster if you spend 100% of your time anxiously worrying about the future and focusing on what you don’t have.

As we age, we tend to forget that exercise is ESSENTIAL to health. Not a hobby, or a preference.
Your body needs to move! It was designed for it.
