We support youth and literacy in Nanaimo, and sponsor students in Rotary Youth Exchange.
We also provide a monthly Family Dinner at Bayview Elementary School and have a volunteer shift at the Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank. Rotary is the world's largest service organization with 1.2 million business & professional leaders around the world. We are 1 of 5 clubs in the Nanaimo area; dinner meetings are on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6:10 pm at the Nanaimo Golf Club, 2800 Highland Blvd., Nanaimo BC V9S 3N8.
The first Nanaimo Family Fun Day was held at Maffeo Sutton Park on the last weekend before back-to-school. The event, hosted jointly by Oceanside Ribfest and our Club, was held Sunday, Sept. 1, and included music and other entertainment, bouncy castles and other children's activities, food trucks, a corn roast, a best-dressed pet contest and much more. Wristbands were handed out to more than 500 children enabling them to take part in all of the activities.
